    French and Indian War

    A Huge war between Great Britain and France, each with help from some Indian tribes, also known as the "Seven Year War." It ended with the Treaty of Paris in 1763.
    This war was important because it gave Britain territory in North America and caused both sides to strengthen their borders defenses.
  • Sugar Act

    British Parliament passed a law on foreign imported sugar, raising duties to give British sugar growers a monopoly on the market.
    The Sugar Act was important to gain money for the colonies.
  • The Stamp Act

    This act was passed by the Parliament that taxed the colonist for anything paper. Stuff like ship papers, legal documents, licenses, newspapers, and cards, plus more, all need to be taxed now
  • The Quartering Act of 1774

    The Parliament passed the quartering act saying British solders could stay in a colonist's home free of cost and the colonist had to feed and house them, no choice.
  • Boston Massacre

    A riot of Boston colonist towards British troops causing the troops to fire into the crowd, resulting in anger at the troops, and 5 colonist died.
    This event was important because it helped the separation of the colonist and the British.
  • The Tea Act

    This act passed by the Parliament gave the "British East India Company Tea" a monopoly on sales of tea in the colonies. This act is what caused the Sons of Liberty to commit the Boston Tea Party.
  • The Boston Tea Party

    The Sons of Liberty got on three ship and threw exactly 342 chest of tea into water.(Over one million dollars worth of tea)
  • Boston Port Act

    This day, the Parliament said that the Harbor would be closed down until the 1 millions dollars of tea was paid for.
  • Patrick Henry's "Give me Liberty or Give Me Death" Speech

    This speech was the begging of the bill of rights second amendment. Patrick Henry also fought for colonist right from governors.
  • Battle of Lexington and Concord

    These battles were the start to the American Revolution. British troops went from Boston to Concord and the colony's military headed to confront them at Lexington. In the end the British were retreating under fire.
  • Battle of Ticonderoga

    Benedict Arnold joined Ethan Allen on an attack on this fort during the night while everyone was sleeping. Although small, this was the first American victory in the Revolutionary War.
  • Battle of Bunker Hill

    One of the earliest battles. Even though the Americans lost, they were inexperienced and it filled them with confidence to have a close fight.
  • George Washington Gets Named Commander in Chief

    The Continental Congress name George Washington commander in chief. He was chosen over many other options such as John Hancook.
  • Common Sense

    This pamphlet gave the American colonies independence from Britain. This also united average colonist and leaders into the idea of independence. This was important because in expressed the ideas of everyone and brought everyone together to work towards this common goal.
  • Declaration on Independence: written and signed by Continental Congress

    The Continental Congress all signed the Declaration, declaring the United States independence.
  • Battle of Saratoga

    This battle was important because it was known as the "turning point" in the revolution. This battle was also famous when troops and commanders started using the "divide and conquer" strategies.
  • Battle of Yorktown

    George Washington commanding a siege known as the Battle of Yorktown with 17,000 against General Lord Charles Cornwallis with his army of 9,000 men. This battle is known as the most important battle in the Revolutionary war.
  • General Cornwallis surrenders to Washington at Yorktown

    Before this surrendering, General Cornwallis was beating Washington in their previous battle but in this battle he and 8,000 of his troops had to surrender to Washington.
  • Peace Treaty signed ending the American Revolution Giving the US Independence

    The Treaty of Paris, decided between Great Britain and the United States, ending the Revolutionary war and finally declaring the United States independence.
