  • Lexington and Concord

    Lexington and Concord
    Officers/militia:
    -Colonel Smith, Major Pitcarine, and Lord Percy commanded the British troops
    -Paul Revere adn William Dawes rode to warn Lexington that the British were coming
    -Barret, Buttrick, and Robinson controlled the militia.
  • Fort Ticonderoga

    Fort Ticonderoga
    Officers/militia:
    -Benedict Arnold and Ethan Allen(American army)
    -Vermont Green Mountain Boys(militia) Strategic importance:
    Arnold and Allen seiged fort Ticonderoga which helped them in the first years of the war. Ticonderoga provided key artillery for the Continental Army, the canons captured there would be used at the capturing of Boston. The area of Ticonderoga served as a staging post before the Continental army stormed Canada(British territory)
  • Bunker (Breed's) Hill

    Bunker (Breed's) Hill
    Officers/militia:
    - William Prescott and 1,000 militiamen (American)
    - Major General William Howe and Brigadier General Robert Pigot Strategic importance:
    Bunker Hill was on top of a hill looking over the city of Boston. The american army was supposed to set up forts on Bunker Hill but instead set up forts on the smaller Breed's Hill.
  • Trenton/ Princeton

    Trenton/ Princeton
    Officers/ militia:
    - General George Washington and Colonel Rahl Strategic importance:
    The americans surrounded the British troops and attacked them from Trenton and Princeton. The american army won the battle and seiged the British army. They set up winter camps on the outskirts of Trenon.
  • Saratoga- Bemis Heights

    Saratoga- Bemis Heights

    -General John Burgoyne (British)
    -General Horatio Gates
    -Major Benedict Arnold Strategic importance:
    - The british army prepared to move south from Canda to join Howe's men. They palnned to split New England from the southern colonies because the south was suppling the American army with amunition and resources.
  • Siege of Charleston

    Siege of Charleston
    Officers/militia:
    - Major General Benjamin Lincoln, British Lieutenant General Sir Henry Clinton Strategic importance:
    - British camptured more than 3,000 patriots and divided South Carolina was a divided state and the British turned the population against each other causing a civil war
  • King's Mountain

    King's Mountain
    Officers/ militiamen:
    - Colonel William Campbell and Major Patrick Ferguson Strategic importance:
    - Patriot army surrounded and captured the torries at King's Mountain and forced them to surrender.
  • Yorktown

    Yorktown
    Officers/militia:
    - George Washington(America) and Cornwallis(Britian) Strategic importance:
    - considered the last major battle of the war and forced the British government to end the conflict. It was the end of British lands operations in America and led to beginning negotiations of the Treaty of Paris.
