    It was a way to renew indian culture and stop hunger, disease, and poverty. The ghost dance originated from the paiute indians in 1870 however in didn't take off until 1890. It all started because shaman wovoka saw a vision of a second christ and saw evil in white people. They assumed the world would soon come to an end to end all white people then be restored by native americans. They would throw ceremonies lasting 5 days and would do ceremonial cleansing, meditation, prayers.

    indian cheif sitting bull just came back to america and lived in standing rock south dakota. After the apocalyptic spiritual revival movement known as the “ghost dance” started to rise Other indians feared it might be sitting bull who happened to be behind all of it. James mclaughlin sent indian police to arrest him at his small cabin on the grand river. after his denial for arrest, a fight broke out between his people and the police. sitting bull was then found shot in the had and chest.

    troops went out to disarm the lakota. During the process a deaf tribesman named “black coyote” was arguing trying to keep his rifle. They wanted to take it away from him but black coyote put up a fight trying to keep it saying he paid a lot of money for it. he would not give it up. Soon enough lakota pulled out their rifles on the cavalry regiment over the rifle and shots soon broke out. In the end there were a total of over 300 men, women, and their kids dead left for nothing but memory.
