  • Adolphus Hitler is Born

    Adolphus Hitler is Born
    On April 20th, 1889 "Adolphus Hitler" is born to Klara and Alois Hitler in a small town called Braunau am Inn, Austria-Hungary.
  • Moving to Vienna

    Moving to Vienna
    After Hitler's mother died in December of 1907, he shortly after moved to Vienna to pursue his dream to be an artist. He would eventually get rejected by art school, and the world as an artist. Now being an orphan, he was on his own and would eventually run out of money and would be forced to live in Men's hostels. This is where he would gain his anti-semitic views. His experiences in Vienna dramatically changed the course of his life.

    Going to War
    Hitler joins as a volunteer to fight in WW1 on the German side. Within a few months, 2,500 of the 3,000 men in his regiment had died in battle. Many of the men in his regiment would treat Adolf poorly because of his position in his new regiment that did not put him in front of gunfire. His experiences in WWI, and eventually the treaty of Versailles would create a strong hatred for the allied powers that would lead to the start of WWII.

    Nazis continue to spread in Germany as they express their opinions on anti-semitism, the Treaty of Versailles, the spread of communism, and the weak German government.
  • Becomes leader of the Nazi party

    Becomes leader of the Nazi party
    Hitler joined the National Socialist German Workers (Nazi) party in 1920 because he was upset about the German government's agreement to the Treaty of Versailles, as well as sharing the party's anti-semitic views. In July of 1921 Adolf Hitler would become the leader of the Nazi party which would parlay into his 1933 Chancellorship of Germany.

    As the leader of the Nazi party, Hitler lead a revolution of the Bavarian state government that he planned to spread across Germany. The plan started correctly but went wrong and led to arrests of many Nazis, including Hitler. Hitler was imprisoned for treason and would write his famous book "Mein Kampf" from prison.

    In 1933 Adolf Hitler was appointed as the Chancellor of Germany by Paul von Hindenburg, the President of Germany. This transformed the democratic Germany into the totalitarian Third Reich.
  • The start of the Holocaust

    The start of the Holocaust
    The Holocaust started in 1933 with Hitler opening the first concentration camp called "Dachau". Dachau would also be one of the first camps to be captured by the Allies. The Holocaust would last until May 8th,1945, or what is called "VE Day"(Victory in Europe). This was the first step towards Hitler's reign of terror.

    In 1933 Hitler became the Chancellor of Germany, and then in 1934 became the Führer, which loosely translates to "supreme leader" of Germany after President Paul von Hindenburg's death. Hitler combined the roles of the Chancellor and the President to become the "Führer".

    Hitler's Invasion of Poland would mark the start of WWII. Up until 1939, Hitler's terror was controlled to Germany with the Holocaust. Hitler started his spread of the Third Reich with this Invasion.

    The Allied Normandy landings in German occupied France was the start of the end of the Third Reich. This event was how the Allies would eventually retake Europe. The Allies' victory over Germany would also lead to Hitler's suicide.

    As Allied troops headed towards Berlin, Eva Braun(33 years old), Hitler's longtime friend, married Adolf Hitler(56 years old) in a small and rushed ceremony in his bunker in Berlin, Germany.
  • Suicide

    Suicide
    Hitler and his wife Eva Braun killed themselves on April 30th, 1945 in the same bunker they had married in less than 40 hours before. They did this because Allied soldiers were closing in on the bunker they were hiding in. They had both poisoned themselves and their dogs to avoid capture. Hitler had also shot himself in the head before the poison killed him. Once the soldiers arrived, the married couple were both dead.
