The start of Louis and Clark's journey
Sacagawea
They started their journey in St. Louis and they traveled through the Great Plains. Then, they stopped traveling for winter and met a trader and his wife, Sacagawea. Sacagawea and her husband ended up traveling with Lewis and Clark on their journey. -
The resumption of their journey.
Lewis, Clark ,and Sacagawea began once again on their journey to new land that no one had ever seen before. -
Rocky Mountains
The Rocky Mountains
After a while of traveling, William Clark saw the outline of a great mountain range. In the nest few days, the group could see all of the snow-covered Rocky Mountains. -
The Great Falls of the Missouri River
Great Falls of the Missouri River
During their expedition, the group encountered an unexpected waterfall. This waterfall happened to be the Great Falls of the Missouri River. After a tiring twenty-four days, the party was exhausted. -
Meeting the Shoshones
The Shoshone Tribe
InMid- August the party came opon many Shoshone woman and children. Lewis had carried a flag throughout the journey and had waved it at their arrival. -
Crossing the Rockies
Corps of DiscoveryThe Corps of Discovery(the group) left the Shoshone territory. A man that Sacagewea asked to help them named Chief Cameahwait provided them with horses and a guide to show them the best route throught the Rockies. Unfortunatley, crossing the Rockies was harder than they thought and had to walk. -
Blinding Snowstorm
In the middle of September, a snowstorm struck and the Shoshone guide got lost. Wild game could not be found on the high mountain peaks. The party had to kill their packhorses for food. -

Going Home
St. Louis
The crew broke camp and started the long journey home to St.Louis. It was easier for them because they knew what to expect.It took 6 months until they returned. -
Home Sweet Home
Lewis and Clark Expedition
Lewis and Clark finally came back home. It had taken them two years to travel just under 4000 miles.
