    The KKK started to decline in the late 1920's. But they started to rise with the passing of the Emergency Quota Act, which limited the amount of immigrants into America. But there were still a lot of immigrants in America, so the KKK was formed to get rid of anyone who was an immigrant

    Louis Armstrong was a New Orleans native that moved to Chicago in 1922. He introduced an improvisational early form of jazz. He became the first great cornet and trumpet soloist in jazz music.

    Marcus Garvey was the leader of the (UNIA). He thought that since whites didn't think blacks were good enough, so he made a movement where black would go to where Africa is now and make there own country. He thought that it would help their economic and political power by education themselves.

    John J. Scopes was a teacher in Dayton, Tennessee was charged for violating Tennessee's Butler Act. The act prohibited the teaching of evolution in Tennessee schools. Many people thought it was wrong because they believed in god, but Scopes didn't care because he believed in science and that we evolved from apes. He was fined $100 for the teaching of evolution in school.

    Sacco-Vanzetti Case
    Sacco and Vanzetti were both arrested after the robbing and murders of two employees of a shoe factory. The two men were anarchists, the murder evidence was questionable and proved that Saco and Vanzetti were innocent, but it didn't matter they were eventually executed. America did not like immigrants, Sacoo and Vanzetti were Italian immigrants, so they did not get a fair trail because America hated immigrants.

  • Saint Valentine's Day Massacre

    Saint Valentine's Day Massacre
    The Saint Valentine's Day Massacre is the name given to the 1929 murder in Chicago of seven men of the North Side gang during the Prohibition Era. It happened on February 14, and resulted from the struggle between the Irish American gang and the South Side Italian gang led by Al Capone to take control of organized crime in the city. Former members of the Egan's Rats gang were suspected of a significant role in the incident, assisting Capone.
