    The 19th Ammendment of the US gave women the right to vote. Formerly the voting qualifications were white, male, landowner. By the 19th amendment men and women of all races were allowed to vote. Although all races were technically allowed to vote it was very difficult for races other than whites to vote.
  • President Harding is elected

    President Harding is elected
    Warren G. Harding is elected president on March 4th 1921. President Harding is remembered because of the scandal related to, his dear friend and Secretary of the Interior, Albert B. Fall. Harding was the 29th U.S. President. President Harding died August 2nd, 1923 in San Francisco CA.

    After WW1 A ericans felt very harshly towards Immigrants. Congress passed restrictions on how many immigrants could enter the U.S. from each country. The quotas were extremely biased against countries places such as Japan, southern Euope amd Eastern Europe.

    The New York Yankees possesed one of the best baseball players of all time in the 1920’s. Babe Ruth is one of the most well known athletes ever. He had 714 career homerunsand thousands of runs batted in. The stadium built in 1923 was also known as “House That Ruth Built” probably be ause he was extrememly popular at the time and carried the team.

    The Great Gatsby is a work of american literature written by F. scott Fitzgerald. The novel at the time of its publication was unpopular. Later the novel became a smashing success and is now known as a great american classic that offers an insight to the 1920’s lifestyle.
  • The Gold Rush premieres

    The Gold Rush is a silent comedy by Charlie Chaplin. In the 1920’s silent films were a new media that were widely popular. Other than the radio silent films were one kf the first forms of entertainment for the public. These silent films featured actors/actresses like Max Linder, Charlie Chaplin, Harold Lloyd, Lillian Gish and Louise Brooks.
  • First transatlantic flight

    First transatlantic flight
    Charles Lindbergh flew from New York to Paris in the first transatlantic flight. Lindbergh’s flight took 33 hours which landed him a spot in the history books.Although he landed the Spirit of Saint Louis, the journey he took across the Atlantic Ocean was dangerous.
  • Sacco and Vanzetti are executed

    Sacco and Vanzetti are executed
    One of the most famous court cases of the 1920’s is the Sacco Vanzetti case. Sacco and Vanzetti were Italian immigrants who were accused of murder. The case was highly controversial because no actual evidence proved that the men had committed the murder. Although the men were not proved guilty they were executed by electric chair.
  • Ford Model A was produced

    The Ford Model A was an improvment from the Ford Model T. These cars were produced from an assembly line. The assembly line is an idea from Henry Ford that revolutionized production. The assembly line introduced mass production which lowers the cost of goods.

    The stock market crash is one of if not the most memorable instances of the 1920’s. The crash is one of the causes of the Great Depression. The Great Depression left many Americans hungry, homeless amd full of distress.
