The Red scare
The Red Scare was about the fear of America being taken over by communists. Because of this people abused constitutional rights and people were jailed because of accusations of being communist. The House Unamerican Activities Communist (HUAC) was created and the hollywood 10 were put to jail for non complince because of them. Joe McCarthy was an in effective senator that was up for reelection. So he started accusing people without any evidence. -
Berlin airlift
The berlin airlift lasted from June 24, 1948 – May 11, 1949. The soviets did this to try and starve them into communism. -

The Korean War
The Korean war started June 25, 1950. It started becuase the north wanted the whole country of korea to be unified instead of being seperated. The korean war is often reffered to as the forgotten war because it happened during the same time as the cold war. Both sides had asistance from an external power, north was backed up by the soviet union and the south was backed up by america. The war eventually ended on July 27, 1953.
