  • When I was Born

    When I was Born
I was born on January 28th, 2000 in Danbury Hospital around 7:00am in the morning. Outside there a mighty snowstorm was wiping up almost blizzard like conditions. I think that the snowstorm is the reason that I like, and am not bothered, by the cold. I'm not quite sure what happened after that because, well, I don't really remember anything else. Other events that have happened over the year on January 28th include the Challenger explosion and the completion of the Chrysler Building.
  • Nicholas Being Born

    Nicholas Being Born
On May 21st of 2003 my brother Nicholas was born. I remember playing with matchbox cars in the hospital hallway waiting to meet him. After a while, I began to ask my parents if Nicholas wanted to play. Nicholas of course was just a few months old and they said he can play when he gets a little older. When school started again, I wondered when he would get on the bus with me. To be honest, I was a little jealous that the new baby got to stay home while I had to go to school all day.
  • When I got Appendicitis

    When I got Appendicitis
The Appendix. That outdated organ at the very end of your Large Intestine. Sometimes a bit of food matter can get stuck and cause an infection to start. I just thought it was a stomach ache at first, but it quickly grew unbearable. Me and my Mom went to the doctor and he said go to the hospital; I have Appendicitis. When we get there I'm quickly moved to an operating room, and 4 hours later I have no more Appendixes. I was scared the whole time even though I was going to be fine.
  • When I Almost Failed Italian Class

When I Almost Failed Italian Class
One might think that being Italian would give you an edge on learning the language. I sure did. During middle school I was doing fine but then camy 9th grade. I was definitely not into that thing people call "studying" and my bad spelling didn't help me with anything. I started doing worse and worse and before I knew what happened, I had a 66 for my final average. After I barely squeaked by in 9th grade, I decided that it was best that I dropped the class.
  • Procrastination

    Procrastination
Whenever I have a large project or assignment to do I always leave it for the last minute. I just don't know how to plan my time well. An example of this is when I took Chemistry in 10th grade. At the end of the year we hade to do a final lab report, which I knew about from the begging of the quarter. Did I do it and get it over with? No, I waited until there was only one and a half weeks of class left. That last week of school I needed to say stay up to 11:00pm to make sure it got done.
  • Florida Sea Base

    Florida Sea Base
During August of last year my Boy Scout troop, Brewster Troop 1, went to a high adventure base in the Florida Keys. We stayed a week on a small, uninhabited island named Big Munson Island. The only other life, besides plants, were key deer and tons of hermit crabs. We had plenty to do as we went snorkeling, deep sea fishing and paddled through a mangrove maze I our kayaks. When we first arrived at the island we were greeted by a horrible smell, which we came to love, of decomposing sargassum.
  • Boy's State

    Boy's State
This summer I took part in a program sponsored by the American Legion called Boy's State. During this program myself and the 1,055 other selected juniors from around the state learned about the the inner workings of government. We went through the process of electing people into the different positions throughout city, county and state government. While dealing with the stress of running Boy's State, we were also being taught the ways of military life by the Marine Corps officers of the program.
  • Climbing Mount. Marcy

    Climbing Mount. Marcy
5,344 feet. That is the height of the highest peak in New York, otherwise known as Mount.Marcy. Although it was a challenge the first time, the second time it was a breeze. It only took me and the scouts from my troop about 4 hours to reach the top, and the view is well worth it. Imagine looking down at the rest of the Adirondacks as the wind blows the alpine grasses and you relax from the hike up. also, you can get the best cell reception for miles around.
  • SPL at Camp Read

    SPL at Camp Read
SPL, or Senior Patrol Leader, is the person that pretty much runs the troop and plans everything out. Camp Curtis .S Read is a week long Boy Scout camp I have been going to for 5 years now and this summer I needed to lead the troop through the week. Although we hit a few bumps in the road we made it out unscaved. With the scouts demonstrating no small amount of teamwork, and a lot of hard work we were able to win the Waubeeka Award, the most coveted award in all of Camp Read.
  • When I Got my Driver's License

When I Got my Driver's License
After having my permit for over six months, I was finally ready to take my road test. I was very nervous and while I was waiting, so I was going over everything I needed to do to pass. Having taken Driver's Ed. through the school I knew what the main things that students messed up on: parallel parking and making sure to look around the road for other drivers. As soon as the test was over the instructor started to list everything that i did wrong. But with 5 points to spare, I passed.
