  • The Munich Olympic Massacre

    The Munich Olympic Massacre
    This was a massacre that occurred in the summer of 1972, in West Germany. This is where the terrorist group Black September, took many people hostage and killed them. Along with a German police officer. The reason they did this was because they wanted some prisoners to be let go from jail, almost like an exchange. If they let them go they'll let the people go. Afterwards the group Black September made a new group Operation Wrath Of God.

    The Dublin and Monaghan Pub Bombings
    This bombing took place on May 17th 1974 in Dublin and Monaghan Ireland. These bombing's were a series of planned and coordinate attacks during rush hour. This attack was the worst in Republican history, injuring 30 people and killing 300 people. The Ulster Volunteer Force, a loyalist group from Ireland, ended up taking full responsibility for these bombings. The Irish Parliament called this an international terrorist attack, involving the state.

    This extermination job took place during the months of November-December 1979 in Saudi Arabia. This was where the imam was gathering to have prayer early that morning but, was interrupted by insurgents (a revolution) led by Juhayman al-Otaybi. He later then chained the gates closed and killed 2 police men. Many people joined this rebellion, which later then lasted 2 weeks. He later ended up killing 255 people and over 560 injured.

    The Embassy was a suicide bombing that happened in 1983 and in Bierut, Lebanon. This bombing was thought to be the start of Anti-US attacks my Islamist groups, which means they thought this would be the end of attacks like this for the US. This attack killed more than 63 people, which were mostly embassy staff, and 17 of these people were Americans. This bombing took 2000 pounds of explosives and let it go in the front of the building. President Reagan declared this as a cowardly act for the US.
  • Air India Flight 182

    This flight happened on June 2nd, 1985 on the Montreal, Canada–London, UK–Delhi, India route. This is where an aircraft was bombed and destroyed in the AO. It was crashed in the Atlantic ocean, while in Irish airspace. A total of 329 people were killed and 268 of them were Canadian citizens. Also the main suspects in the bombing were members of the Sikh militant group Babbar Khalsa and Inderjit Singh Reyat, a Canadian national, remains the only person convicted of involvement in the bombing.
  • Hipercor Bombing, Barcelona

    Hipercor Bombing, Barcelona
    The hipercor bombing was a car bomb attack by Basque separatist organization ETA in Hipercor shopping centre in Barcelona, Spain.
    This bombing ended up killing 21 people and injured 45, this was the deadliest attack in ETA history. This bomb was hidden in the car boot of a vehicle and had went off in a car lot. In the end they found out someone has sent a warning 2 minutes before the bomb was supposed to go off. Also Troitiño and Ernaga, the people who committed the attack, got 794 years in jail

    Lockerbie Bombing/ Pan AM 103
    The Lockerbie bombing took place on December 21, 1988 in Scotland. This plane was flying was from Frankfurt to Detroit, to take passengers to the destination. This bombing 243 passengers and 16 crew people. After much research by the FBI they named this a terrorist bombing. Afterwards, in 2001, Libyan intelligence officer Abdelbaset al-Megrahi was jailed for life after being found guilty of 270 counts of murder in connection with the bombing.

    The Tarata bombing took place on July 16th, 1992 in Peruvian capital city, Lima. This bomb started out with 2 trucks filled with explosives, something was set off and it went off in the town. This bomb killed 25 and wounded 155, damaging 183 homes and 400 businesses. All in all this bombing was the start of a week long campaign by the Shining Path terrorist group and one of the deadliest. Also, Shining Path and some of the Communist part took blame for this bombing.

    The World Trade Center was bombed by a terrorist named Ramzi Yousef, on 26, 1993 in New York City. On this day, he had a specific truck for the bombs, which was located underneath the Twin Towers. Initially, he had only wanted one tower to collapse, but he destroyed the parking lot and lower floors of the World Trade Center. This attack thankfully only killed 6 people, but, he had been planning this attack for awhile and the World Trade Center would remain a target for terrorists linked forever

    The Hebron Massacre took place on February 24, 1994 in the Ibrahimi Mosque. This was a shooting carried out by American-Israeli Baruch Goldstein, also a member of the Israeli Kach movement. The Goldstein opened many shots on many Palestinian Muslims, during a prayer gathering. It ended up taking place during a Jewish holiday Purim and Muslim Ramadan. This ended up killing 29 people and 125 hurt. Goldstein was only stopped after he was overpowered and beaten to death by survivors.

    Tokyo Subway Sarin Attacks
    The Tokyo Subway Attacks took place on March 20th, 1995 in Tokyo, Japan. These attacks were an act of domestic terrorism done by members of the cult movement Aum Shinrikyo. For the attacks sarin (a powerful gas) was released on many lines of the Tokyo subway during rush hour. This attack killed 12 people and injured over 50. 1,000 people had severe eye damage after the attacks. The attack was directed against trains passing through Kasumigaseki and Nagatachō, home to the Japanese government.

    Colombo Central Bank Bombing, Sri Lanka
    This was one deadliest attacks by the Liberation Tigers (Or the Tamil Tigers) during the Sri Lankan Civil War. This took place in Sri, Lanka in 1996. This was named a suicide bombing by the Sri Lanka government. The bomb had 440 pounds of deadly explosives, which killed 91 and injured 1,400 people. The Tamil Tigers (the people who dropped the bomb) were seperate fighters, aiming for an independent state in the north and east of the island. But, in 2009 they were defeated by the government.

    The Omagh Bombing was a car bombing that took place in Omagh, County Tyrone, Northern Ireland on August 15tn 1998. This bombing was done by Real Irish Republican Army, (a splinter group) who opposed the IRA's ceasefire and the Good Friday Agreement. The bomb killed 31 people and injured over 220, all together this was the highest death toll by just a single bomb! 40 minutes before the bomb was supposed to go off, a signal was sent . It was wrong and police had moved people towards the bomb

    September 11 Attacks
    The 9/11 attacks took place on September 11, 2001. This was where 19 terrorists from al-Qaeda occurred. He hijacked four commercial airplanes, and purposely crashing two of the planes into the upper floors of the North and South towers of the World Trade Center complex and a third plane into the Pentagon in Arlington. The towers immediately collapsed afterwards and 2,753 people were killed in New York, 184 people were killed at the Pentagon and 40 people were killed on Flight 93.

    The Passover Massacre was a suicide bombing, carried out by Hamas, at the Park Hotel in Netanya, Israel on during the Passover Seder. A Palestinian bomber, Abdel-Basset Odeh, made himself look like a woman and entered the hotel carrying a suitcase holding many explosives. He successfully passed the security guards and detonated the bomb. 30 people were killed and 140 were injured.
