  • Treaty of Versailles

    The treaty of Versailles was created by the allied powers after WW1 to formally blame Germany for the war. Germany did not handle this well and also went into extreme war debts because of the treaty. This lead to Hitlers empowerment in Germany because he wanted to change the way Germany was handling it.
  • Mussolini becomes fascist leader of Italy

    Mussolini was appointed by King Victor Emmanuel 111 because he thought it would strengthen his own power. From there Mussolini went on to be the creater of fascism and completely rid Italy of all of their political party's but his own. He promised to bring the empire back to glory days in the Roman empire by completely taking over.
  • Mein Kampf is published

    Mein Kampf (translates to "my struggle) is a book written by Hitler. It outlines his plans for Germany and how to come back from after the war. He blames of all Germanys problems on the Jews. This is Hitlers first official acknowledgement and rise. He also wrote this while he was in jail for trying to take over the government with the NAZI party.
  • Hitler becomes Chancellor of Germany

    Hitler was appointed Chancellor of Germany by Hindenburg after many electoral victories. The NAZIs has been growing and gaining followers throughout Germany and this was their first official role of power. After this Hitlers power really began to surge and his true plans started.
  • “Night of the Long Knives” Hitler consolidates power

    the "Night of the Long Knives" took place on June 30th, 1934 and led to Hitler being established the supreme administrator of justice for the German people. On this night Hitler has 85 political leaders and rivals murdered to make sure he was the only one to take power. He was able to keep this out of the news paper and keep the people from finding out.
  • Italy invades Ethiopia

    Mussolini decided to start the 2nd Italo-Ethiopian was in 1935 for a couple reasons, he wanted to prove Italy after losing the first one, he wanted more land for unemployed Italians, and to acquire more mineral resources. This event proved Mussolinis supreme authority and that he could take anyone in the way down including whole country's.
  • Japan Invades China

    Japan envaded China is 1937 and this is often referred to as the start of WW2 in Asia. Japan was seeking materials to fuel its growing industries. Japan was establishing a dominance thought Asia.
  • Japanese Rape of Nanjing

    After the Japan has won a battle in the 2nd Sino- Jappanese war the decided they wanted to invade the capital city of Nanjing. Out of fear of loosing more of his military China’s Nationalist leader Chiang Kai-Shek did not send aid to help the people of the city. Hundreds of thousands of people were murdered and tens of thousands of women and girls were raped. This established Japans extreme aggression and power.
  • Germany and Italy sign the Pact of Steel

    Germany and Italy agreed to a political alliance which lead to one of the major alliances in the war, the Axis Powers. This alliance would evolve to later include Japan. Mussolini coined the agreement the "pact of steel". Neither side really trusted each other much but solely used to each other for more power.
  • Germany invades Poland, beginning World War II

    Hitler invaded Poland in September of 1939 because he wanted for land for the Germans and his master race to live. This event ultimately started WW11. This also started the chain on France and Great Britain declaring war on Germany for their intense aggression.
  • Germany, Italy, and Japan sign the Tripartite Pact

     Germany, Italy, and Japan sign the Tripartite Pact
    This signing finalized the axis powers with the alliance of Germany, Italy, and Japan. These countries just wanted mutually support and to further prove to America that they should think twice before joining the war on the allied side.
