  • Versailles Treaty

    Versailles Treaty
    The 3 main powers, America, France, and Britain, along with other smaller countries created a treaty for Germany to sign. America wanted a just peace, France wanted to weaken Germany, and Britain wanted money. The treaty made Germany take full blame for the war, pay over 400 billion, limit it's military, and give up land.
  • League of Nations

    League of Nations
    After WWI the League of Nations was formed to stop another war from breaking out but the League didn't include Germany, or Soviet Russia, and America refused to join because they wanted to stay out of European affairs. This made the League weak, but it still tried to find peaceful solutions to international problems.
  • Communist International

    Communist International
    A group called the Comintern gained power and managed to form large communist parties in the European Nations, all these parties got directions from Moscow and followed the Bolshevik model for a party, this happened due to the rise in popularity of Communism after WWI because it offered stability to the economy and the government.
  • Fascism in Italy

    Fascism in Italy
    Mussolini took control of Italy by invading the capital with an army of workers and taking over. Many workers supported him because they hadn't gotten the land they were promised after WWI and he was a very strong leader who promised the the land and a more stable life with less of the chaos that had taken place after WWI ended. He took complete control a few years later creating a Fascist government that was a model for many others.

    Things in Europe relax a little. Countries are beginning to recover with the help of American funding and peace agreements are being made. German is also allowed into the League of Nations, making it stronger.
  • Stalin in Power in Russia

    Stalin in Power in Russia
    After Lenin's role in taking over in WWI and pulling Russia out of the war Lenin dies and Joseph Stalin manages to take power. He improves to economy by putting it under government control and forcing industrialization. He also uses to secret police to kill anyone who goes against or doesn't openly side with him. He spreads suspicion of the outside world and takes control of all Communist parties outside of Russia
  • Depression

    Depression
    The crash of the American stock market has a ripple effect throughout the world because America is supporting many of the European countries while they recover. Due to the crash America support disappeared and economies around the world crashed leading to the great depression.
  • Japan Invades Manchuria

    Japan Invades Manchuria
    The depression hit Japan hard and the civilian government weakened. To try to pull Japan out of the depression the wanted colonies and new land that would make them money so they invaded Manchuria. The League of Nations tried to stop them but failed because it was weak and held no real power. This made people lose faith in the league

    Germany Starts to go it Alone
    Germany leaves the disarmament conference refusing to disarm and it leaves the League, completely ignoring them.

    Third Reich
    Hitler becomes Chancellor of Germany legally and begins putting Nazis in positions of power and together Hitler and his Nazis passed laws that gave Hitler absolute power over the country.
