Salva is an 11 year old boy who goes to school thirty minutes away from his village. Rebels come and shoot where the school is so Salva has to run away far from his home. -

Salva keeps walking with a group of villagers but then they get caught by one of the rebel soldiers, they lead them to the rebels base but then they escape. Then they find a farm to sleep in, when Salva wakes up there is no one there. -

Salva and his uncle and the rest of the group crossed the river. Then they got to the island in the middle of the river. The fishermen gave his uncle and his food. After that when they were trying to go sleep there were lots of mosquitos. -

Character vs nature. Salva and the group got to the desert. It was really hot so they had to save their water. After a few hours Salva's lips were dry and crusty. He had a long day to walk and he started to get weaker and weaker. -

Some challenges for Salva was to cross the river. While he was crossing the river he had to be careful for being shot by the soldiers and looking out for crocodiles and trying not to drown. -

Her dad and her brother had to go hunting everyday and they risked their lives because there could be dinka tribesmen somewhere and they could get into a fight. There were two men that wanted to talk to the biggest boys and Nya realized that they were talking something about water... we don't know what it is yet... -

People had to keep the drill working by putting water. The workers had to go lots of times to the other pond to get water in a big bag, but then the bag kept breaking. The workers wanted to leave but their boss kept making jokes and kept them happy. Also he kept talking to them and persuaded them to keep going.
