YouTube was founded on February 14, 2005 by Chad Hurley, Jawed Karim and Steven Chen. They created the idea when they use to work for PayPal. -
The Beginning
In 2006, YouTube had over 100 million uploads a day. It was ranked the fifth most popular website on the World Wide Web, and had at least 44% female and 56% male visitors per month. -
The Google Purchase
On October 9th, 2006, Google made the announcement that they would be purchasing the company. This made more job openings at Google and it made the Founders profit go up. -
Updates
Not every product is a finish product once its released. In 2007, YouTube had a major update, including streaming, FaceCam option, and voice modifier. -
The Streamy's
The Streamy's is a very big award show, and in 2010, Awards were given out for YouTube Streams and videos. -
Trending Page
In 2011, a update occurred that made a Trending page, where videos with the most views or likes would appear on that page to watch. The only problem with that now is that our american videos show up on the India and Russia page and vise versa. -
YouTube Jobs
In 2013, People started to make YouTube Videos and actually get paid for doing so. This inspired people to start businesses and hire people to make videos and get paid for them. -
YouTube Movies and Episodes
In 2015, You had the choice to buy Movies and TV Show Episodes and have it downloaded to your YouTube Account. -
Notification Bell
In 2016, an update was made, and with it, came a notification bell. This allowed you to get notified when a video from a channel you've subscribed to is uploaded. -
YouTube Today
Today, in 2017, YouTube has come a long way for 12 years, but there is still more to come with each new update.
