  • German Blitzkrieg

    In the first phase of world war II, Germany sought to avoid a long war. Germanys strategy was to defeat its opponents in a series of short campaigns. This was called Blitzkrieg (Lightning war). Using this strategy, the germans overran much of Europe, starting with Poland on September first, 1939.
  • Operation Barbarossa

    Operation Barbarossa
    On June 22 1941, Germany launched his armies in an enormous invasion of the soviet union. The invasion covered from the north cape to the black sea which is a distance of about 2,000 miles. The heavy rains would turn the roads into mud and make in hard for the German troops to travel. Eventually the roads frosted up and the German troops moved along without any winter clothes. The German troops were overwhelmed and ended up retreating once they arrived at Moscow.
  • Wannsee Conference

    On January 20,1942, 15 High ranking Nazi and German officials gathered in the suburb of Wannsee to discuss the Final Solution. The final solution was a code name for the plan they had to murder European Jews. This is the plan that Hitler later on approved.
  • Normandy Invasion

    Normandy Invasion
    The battle of Normandy lasted from June 1944 to August 1944 and resulted in the liberation of western Europe from Nazi control. On June 6th 1944, about 156,000 American,British and Canadian troops landed on five beaches along a 50 mile stretch of Frances Normandy region.Prior to the invasion allies started a campaign to mislead the Germans about the intended invasion target. And by late August, all of northern France had been liberated.
  • Operation Thunderclap

    Operation Thunderclap
    Operation Thunderclap was a bombing raid conducted on February 13th to 15th 1945. The soviets called for allied air attacks on communication centers to prevent the shifting on German troops to the eastern front.The operation started on the night of February 13th when British dropped more than 800 tons of bombs. The people of the city were surprised when three hours later they dropped an additional 1,800 tons of bombs.
  • The Invasion of Poland

    The Invasion of Poland
    At 4:45 am, About 1.5 million German troops launched an Invasion along the polish boarder. At about the same time German planes bombed the polish airfield, and their U-Boats suck the Polish navel forces in the Baltic sea. Afterwards Adolf Hitler claimed that it was an action of self defense.
