  • Japan Invades China

    Japan Invades China
    A military conflict fought primarily between the Republic of China and the Empire of Japan from 1937 to 1941. They invaded because Japan is a resource-poor country. They wanted China's resources and wanted to expand their land. China officially joined the Allies and issued a formal declaration war on Japan and other Axis Powers.

    Invasion of Poland
    The German-Soviet Pact of August 1939, which stated that Poland was to be partitioned between the two powers. So it enabled Germany to attack Poland without the fear of Soviet intervention. So then on September 1, 1939 they attacked Poland. The effects of this led Europe into war.

    During World War II, Germany overran much of Europe using a new tactic called the "Blitzkrieg" (lightning war). Blitzkrieg involved the massing of planes, tanks, and artillery which broke through many defenses.   • Operation Barbarossa

    Operation Barbarossa
    Operation Barbarossa was the name given to Nazi Germany’s invasion of Russia on June 22nd 1941. Barbarossa the largest military attack of World War Two and was to have appalling consequences for the Russian people. Masses of Russian prisoners were captured and vast quantities of Russian equipment was destroyed.

    Pearl Harbor
    The attack on Pearl Harbor was a surprise military strike conducted by the Imperial Japanese Navy against the United States naval base at Pearl Harbor. The U.S. Army did not see this coming at all. The attack on Pearl Harbor was intended to neutralize the U.S. Pacific Fleet, and hence protect Japan's advance into Malaya. This attack cause the U.S. To take action and later bomb Japan.

    Battle of Midway
    The Battle of Midway was a crucial and decisive naval battle in the Pacific Theatre of World War II. The Japanese plan was to lure the United States' aircraft carriers into a trap. The Japanese also intended to occupy Midway as part of an overall plan to extend their defensive perimeter in response to the Doolittle air raid on Tokyo. It was a huge impact especial on the turning point for America.
  • D-Day (Normandy Invasion)

    D-Day (Normandy Invasion)
    The largest seaborne invasion in history, the operation began the invasion of German-occupied western Europe, led to the liberation of France from Nazi control, and contributed to an Allied victory in the war. They did this so they could liberate France. This ended the war in Europe.
  • Battle of Bulge

    Battle of Bulge
    Germans launch the last major offensive of the war, Operation Mist, also known as the Ardennes Offensive and the Battle of the Bulge, an attempt to push the Allied front line west from northern France to northwestern Belgium. The Germans threw 250,000 soldiers into the initial assault, 14 German infantry divisions guarded by five panzer divisions-against a mere 80,000 Americans. This war had a huge effect on massive loss of American and civilian life.
  • Battle of Okinawa

    Battle of Okinawa
    It was a major battle in which the United States Armed Forces captured the island of Iwo Jima from the Japanese Imperial Army during World War II. In order to defeat the Japanese and put and end to WWII the US had to get their air support past the islands surrounding Japan. The tiny island had taken America over one month to take. The Marines lost 6,891 men killed and 18,070 wounded.

    This is the Victory in Europe The eighth of May when German troops throughout Europe finally laid down their arms, Germans surrendered to their Soviet antagonists. The German Nazis were opdoen with and this day became a day of celebration every year. People have banners and flags representing the victory.
  • Atom Bomb Droppings

    Atom Bomb Droppings
    For Truman, the choice whether or not to use the atomic bomb was the most difficult decision of his life. August 6, 1945, a plane called the Enola Gay dropped an atomic bomb on the city of Hiroshima. Instantly, 70,000 Japanese citizens were vaporized. In the months and years that followed, an additional 100,000 perished from burns and radiation sickness. Later on August 9th the U.S. Bombed Nagasakiand killed about 80,000. This caused the Japanese to surrender, U.S. Finally won.
  • VJ Day

    VJ Day
    On August 15, 1945, news of the surrender of Japan was announced to the world. On September 2, 1945, a formal surrender ceremony was held in Tokyo Bay aboard the USS Missouri. At the time, President Truman declared September 2 to be VJ Day.
