Annexation of Sudetenland
Germany wanted to gain control of the northern part of Czechoslovakia. Hitler threatened to start a war if the land wasnt given to him. Nobody wanted a war so they gave Germany the land.

Pearl Harbor
A surprise attack on the U.S. by Japan. They bombed the naval base Pearl Harbor and destroyed or damaged America's whole pacific fleet and killed 2,403 men. This attack caused the U.S. to enter the war.

The Philippines
Japan overtook the Philippines in there time taking islands in the pacific and the U.S. had to push them off and back to Japan. This battle brought back General Douglass MacArthur.

Island-hopping
A strategy used by the Allies in the Pacific Campaign. They jumped to different islands with less enemies to make a route the Japan.

Battle of Midway
The Japanese took over many islands, but when they got to the island of Midway the Allies put a stop to it because they were getting too close to the U.S. The battle started to push them back off the island and it was done almost entirely in the air.

Stalingrad
Germany and it's allies fought the Soviet Union for control of the city of Stalingrad. It stopped the Germans from moving into the Soviet Union and it turned the war in favor of the allies.

Guadalcanal
The first major victory for the Allies in the pacific theater. The U.S. launched a surprise attack on the Japanese who were stationed in sections of the Solomon Islands.

A meeting for the Allied leaders FDR, Churchill, and Stalin. They discussed important decisions for the rest of the war.

Fall of Berlin
The last major offensive of the war. The Soviet Union pushed back against the Germans and completely outnumbered them, causing Hitler to commit suicide and Germany to surrender.

Hitler's Death
During the fall of Berlin Hitler realized that the Germans were incredibly outnumbered so he committed suicide. The Germans had no leader and that caused them to surrender.

A place in the mountains of New Mexico that was used as a lab and testing site for the atomic bombs. Where many scientists met up to create the bombs.

Hiroshima bombing
The first usage of an atomic bomb in history. The Allies dropped the first atomic bomb on Japan hoping for surrender but they didn't budge until the second bomb a few days later.
