McMahon was furious and Paul Levesque “Triple H” was the main person punished due to Shawn Michaels being the champion at the time and Hall and Nash leaving for WCW, He was booked to win the 1996 King of the Ring but lost this to Steve Austin, this helped the rise of Stone Cold.

    The Montreal Screwjob was an unscripted moment and it saw Shawn Michaels take on Bret Hart for the WWF Belt at the 1997 Survivor Series, Hart was the champ at the time but he was leaving to go WCW and he refused to drop the belt that night, McMahon agreed for him to drop the belt the next night on Raw. Although he feared that Hart wouldn’t show up and would appear on WCW with the belt so during the match when Michaels applied a submission McMahon rung the bell despite Hart never submitting.
