The Japs military marched into Chinas capital of Nanking and murdered half of the people there (300,000). This was pretty much a chinese "genocide" that went on for a whole year. -
Germanys Invasion of Poland
This was an attack planned by the Germans, they used over 2,000 tanks and over 1,000 fighter planes to bomb Poland. They did this because Hitler wanted more living space for his German people and wanted to protect the German people living in Poland. One big effect of this is that all of Poland was broken up and the Jews were killed. -

German Blitzkreig
This was a German military tactic to cause disorganization upon their enemys. When the enemy spread out they closed in and ended the war quickly. -
Pearl Harbor
Japan bombed a U.S. naval base with hundreds of Japanese fighter planes, they destroyed nearly 12 ships and 2 big naval vessels. Japan did this so they could seize materials such as oil and rubber. -
Warsaw Ghetto Uprising
This was the Jewish people resisting in the Warsaw ghettos in German occupied Poland, this gave the Jewish hope and the Germans a whole new problem in front of them. -
D - Day
Allied armies stormed the beaches of Normandy in order to get across Europe to get to Hitler. More than 9,000 allied soldiers died but that allowed 100,000 to storm across Europe. -
Battle of the Bulge
This was the Germans trying to defend the bridgeline so the allied powers could not get any farther into the country, Hitler used his blitzkreig technique but that didnt stop the allied powers f4rom forming a bulge like shape, and forcing the Germans back. -
Battle of Iwo JIma
American marines manded on the coast of the island Iwo JIma to seize the land and to destroy all the Japs. America destroyed nearly 23,000 Japanese naval and army troops. This resulted in a loss for the Japs and major devistation. -
Battle of Okinawa
287,000 U.S. troops attacked nearly 130,000 Japs, they were both fighting for air bases on the island to use for the projected invasion on Japan. Japan lost and lost their island eventually leading to a much bigger attack on Japan. -
VE Day
This is known as Victory in Europe Day, This is the day that the German army announced that it surrendered. America and Britain joined together in Europe to celebrate the fall of the Nazis. Both countries built confidence off of this. -
Dropping of the Atomic Bomb
Harry Truman ordered to drop an atomic bomb on Japan in the city of Hiroshima. -
VJ Day
This was the official ending of WW2 and this sparked great nationalism in all allied countries. There was a ceremony held on the Japanese coast aboard the U.S.S Missouri to honor all soldiers who survived.
