    The Japanese controlled the Manchurian railway, but In September 1931, they claimed that Chinese soldiers had sabotaged the railway, and attacked the Chinese army. By February 1932, the Japanese had conquered the whole of Manchuria, and thousands of Chinese soldiers and civilians were killed. America continued sales of weapons to Japan because we didnt want them to get mad and declare war.

But this was unsuccessful, and Hitler continued taking land, thus the beginning of WW2.

    Japanese military planners goals were to attack the American-held midway island, to lure the Americans into a large sea battle. but naval intelligence officers had broken a Japanese code and found out about the plan to attack midway .although the Americans had won a tremendous victory, the Japanese did manage to destroy the USS Yorktown. The U.S victory at this battle greatly reduced the Japanese naval power.

Arriving in Normandy, allied forces waded through the surf till they hit sand, and raced to find something to hide behind to escape Germany gunfire. This battle is important, because their goal was to free France of the German Nazis, and were successful at doing so.

    On August 6, 1945, an American bomber dropped the world’s first atomic bomb over the Japanese city of Hiroshima. The explosion wiped out 90 percent of the city and immediately killed 80,000 people; tens of thousands more would later die of radiation exposure. Three days later, a second bomb was dropped on Nagasaki, killing an estimated 40,000 people. Japan’s Emperor announced his country’s unconditional surrender in World War II on the radio.
