    Declaration of War

  • Trench Warfare

    Trench Warfare
The Trench Warfare gave Canada a look into the war which allowed Canada to develop armies and train for to fight at the war. This helped Canada develop many new weapons and practice with them. Although many soldiers had also died in the process this was important for Canada.

  • Battle of the Ypres

    Battle of the Ypres
This was Canada's first win in war and was a major battle. Germans introduced poisonous gas during this war. Aboriginals also fought for the country. About 1500 soldiers were killed with chlorine fumes. This is the rating because many soldiers died which were crucial and needed during the war

  • Women's Jobs

    Women's Jobs
Women had to take our the jobs of men when the men were out to war. Women got very low wages. In 1917, Prime Minister Borden opened the right for women to vote. I give this a rating of -1 because although later women got the right to vote they initially had to do a lot of work as they worked over 14 hours a day. They needed to take care of the children and also work.

  • Conscription Crisis

    Conscription Crisis
Large military and political problem which Canada faced. Canada needed soldiers for the war but many men didn't want to sign up which is why they got forced to join. This also took away the peoples rights. Many soldiers were said that they would get many benefits after the war if they had signed to go to war.

  • Wounded Soldiers

    Wounded Soldiers
After the war it showed decline because of the amount of deaths which occurred. Over 600,000 soldiers had died because of the war and the only benefit Canada got out of the war was showing our strength and making Canada proud. Many soldiers also brought diseases to Canada and many families lost their main source of income.

  • WW1 Ends

    WW1 Ends
I think this showed decline because the only positive Canada got out of this was showing their strength. I do not think WW1 was worth all 600,000 deaths. The economy also went down because the production to use ratio was not equal.

    Technology Innovations
During the roaring twenties many new inventions were being created. This helped excel Canada in technology and better lifestyle. Radio, movies, kitchen items etc was all created during that time period. However WW1 was a decline for Canada, the new technology definitely advanced Canada in a particular way.

  • Fanny "Bobbie" Rosenfeld

    Fanny "Bobbie" Rosenfeld
She showed progress for Canada because she showed women empowerment and equality. During this time period, women were finally allowed to play sports and women found freedom in sports. They showed that they are good at it by winning numerous gold medals. I think she definitely had a positive impact showing progress because she showed women to be free and showed that women should be treated the same as men.
