Their military power is reduced heavily and they were made to pay £6,600 million in reparations.They had give back some of the land they aquirred in WW1 and were not allowed to join the Leaugue of Nations.     These were US sponsored plans regarding issues of debt and war reparations. The Dawes Plan reduced Germany's reparation costs at the time because the economy was bad but as the economy grew better their reparation amount would also increase. The Young Plan was a final decision on Germany's reparations where they agreed to reduced Germany's reparations and set up an international bank. This showed Americas participation after the war.

    The Great Depression
    WW1 caused a great drainage of resources on the economy. Lots of countries were going through tough times rebuilding what they had lost during the war. Americas heavy reliance on Britain for goods was lost because of the loss of 40% of Britain's merchant ships. The economy took a turn for the worse when the stock market crashed. Many Americans were unemployed and even banks had to close down because they couldn't honor deposits. Photo shows the devastation of those who did not work.

    Rise of Hitler
    Hitler was a soldier in the army during WW1 who somehow survived the war. Through his survival he believed that he was chosen to be the next leader and began to get into politics. He tried to overthrow the German government but failed. During the Great Depression Hitler saw his chance and took it, when Horst Wessel was shot the next day his party votes went up and he became in power. Picture shown of Hitler.
