    Nazi troops had attacked Jewish homes, businesses and synagogues and killed around 100 Jews. Kristallnacht means "Night of Broken Glass". This night marked a major set-up on Nazi policy of Jewish Persecution.

    Germans went against the nonagression pact by invading Poland which caused Great Britain and France to declare war on Germany.

    After the Allied powers had been waiting for the Axis powers to attack, Germany had surprised Denmark and Norway with an attack. within a few hours, Denmark had been taken over and in a few months Norway had been taken over. The Germans had built bases along the Norwegian and Danish coast to attack Britain.

    After France lost Paris, they knew the inevitable. France had surrendered to German forces. Germany had taken over the northern part of France and kept the southern part to a puppet government.

    An Italian resistance group had ambushed a German truck. They found Mussolini hiding as a German Soldier. They shot him and left him to hang for the city to see.

    On April 29, Hitler had married his long time partner Eva Braun. Hitler was surrounded by the Soviets, and the next day, on April 30th, he committed suicide with Eva Braun.

    Berlin had officially surrendered. America had celebrated V-E Day, which was Victory in Europe Day. After six years of fighting in Europe, the allied powers had finally won.
