Nazi troops had attacked Jewish homes, businesses and synagogues and killed around 100 Jews. Kristallnacht means "Night of Broken Glass". This night marked a major set-up on Nazi policy of Jewish Persecution. -

Hitler Takes over Denmark and Norway
After the Allied powers had been waiting for the Axis powers to attack, Germany had surprised Denmark and Norway with an attack. within a few hours, Denmark had been taken over and in a few months Norway had been taken over. The Germans had built bases along the Norwegian and Danish coast to attack Britain. -
France Falls
After France lost Paris, they knew the inevitable. France had surrendered to German forces. Germany had taken over the northern part of France and kept the southern part to a puppet government. -
Hitler invades the Soviet Union
The Soviet Union was not prepared for this invasion. The Soviet Union had the biggest army in the world but none of them were well trained nor well equipped. They had to retreat and the Germans had destroyed most of their food supply. -
German U-boat Sank an American Ship
The German navy was ordered to sink any cargo ships that were delivering to the allied powers. One of the ships the Germans sank was an American destroyer. The United States was now in an undeclared war between Germany. -
Pearl Harbor bombing
The Japanese sent quick plane attacks bombing the United States naval units. These attacks caused the American's to enter war with the Japanese. -

Hitler had decided that letting the Jews die by disease was too slow. He then made a systematic way of killing Jews and named it "Final Solution". -
Japanese Americans Get an Internment
The bombing of Pearl Harbor had caused most of the Americans to be frightened of the Japanese. President Roosevelt had issued an order for the calling of Internment on Japanese Americans. -
Battle of Stalingrad Began
The Germans went on nightly bombings and destroyed areas to rubbles. The battle seemed in the favor of the Germans at the time. Stalin had not of given up, he told his commanders to keep defending the city. -
Victory of The Battle of Midway
By June 7, MacArthur knew the allied power would win. Allied powers had destroyed 332 Japanese planes, all four aircraft carriers and one support ship. Yamamoto had told the rest of his fleet to withdraw. -
Battle of Guadalcanal
The allied forces had drove Japanese forces out of Guadalcanal island. After six months of fighting on land and sea, the allied forces finally won after Japan had lost 24,000 troops. -
Germans Surrender to Soviet Forces
The Russian winter and tactical war plans caused German army to eventually lose to the Soviets. only 90,000 German soldiers were left to surrender to the Soviets. -
Britain and America Take Over Italy
Stalin had urged Britain and America to attack France next, but they decided on taking over Italy. Allied forces had landed on Sicily on June 10 and one month later they had taken Sicily from Italian and German forces. -
D-Day
D-Day was a day in which the allies began their land invasion of Europe. Troops had stormed over Normandy and eventually the allied forces had overtaken the Nazis. -
Battle of The Bulge
The German tanks had broken through the American's weak defence. They had reached 75 miles in. The Americans eventually pushed the Germans back and forced them to retreat since they had no reinforcements. -
Mussolini Executed
An Italian resistance group had ambushed a German truck. They found Mussolini hiding as a German Soldier. They shot him and left him to hang for the city to see. -
Hitler Dies
On April 29, Hitler had married his long time partner Eva Braun. Hitler was surrounded by the Soviets, and the next day, on April 30th, he committed suicide with Eva Braun. -
Germany Surrenders
Berlin had officially surrendered. America had celebrated V-E Day, which was Victory in Europe Day. After six years of fighting in Europe, the allied powers had finally won. -
The U.S. Japan Turns to Democracy
Douglas MacArthur was told to take control of the U.S. occupation of Japan. He turned his attention to democratization. MacArthur and his American political advisors made a new constitution. The constitution was then signed by the Japanese.
