    Invasion of Manchuria

    On September 19, 1931, the Kwantung Army of the Empire of Japan invaded Manchuria. During the 1930's the Japanese controlled the Manchurian Railway, they soon claimed that Chinese soldiers sabotaged the railway, which led to the attacking and invading China.
  • Rape of Nanjing

    On December 13, 1937, the Raping of Nanjing first started affecting everyone's lives. The Rape of Nanjing was a period of time where mass murder and rape took place in the innocent lives of the Chinese citizens. This event made China angry triggering events towards World War II.
  • Anschluss

    On March 12, 1938, Germany and Austria joined together creating to Anschluss. Austria was annexed by Germany to make Germany larger with even more German speaking citizens. The union of Austria and Germany caused escalation and tension, which lead to World War II. The Anschluss showed the helplessness of the League of Nations.
  • Munich Pact

    The Munich Pact was signed on September 30, 1938. The pact was between the British and French prime ministers and Hitler, the agreement prevented the outbreak of war but gave Czechoslovakia away to the Germans. The Munich Pact encouraged Germans to expand their territories impacting the beginning of WWII.

    Kristallnacht

    During November 9 and 10 of 1938, Nazis in Germany burned down Jewish homes, schools, and businesses killing about 100 Jews. About 30,000 Jewish men were also arrested and sent to Nazi Concentration Camps. Kristallnacht added even more tension and anger between the Germans and Jews, leading to more tension during World War II.
  • Non-Aggression Pact

    On August 23, 1939, right before the beginning of World War II, Germany and the Soviet Union signed the German-Soviet Nonaggression Pact. The pact stated that the two countries wouldn't take military action against each other for the next ten years. This pact help both countries at the beginning of WWII by having an alliance to know they won't be attacked by their enemy.

    Invasion of Poland

    Starting on September 9, 1939, Germany starts to take over Poland as a defensive action to get more land for the German citizens, but Britain and France didn't believe it. They then declared war on Germany, which was the beginning of World War II.

    The Evacuation of Dunkirk began on May 27 of 1940, this event was when Allied soldiers during World War II had to evacuate north of France. The soldiers had to evacuate to Britain to defend themselves.
  • Tri-Partite Agreement

    On September 27, 1940, the Axis powers become allies with the signing of the pact in Berlin. The agreement stated that each country would provide mutual assistance if any other country get attacked. This agreement could help the different countries during World War II whenever they got attacked.

    The lend lease act was passed on March 3, 1941. The act provided foreign nations to be able to get U.S. military aid during World War II. The Lend Lease Act really helped most countries to get the supplies and goods they needed to get back up from the attacks of the war.

    Operation Barbarossa

    On June 22, 1941, Operation Barbarossa, which had the original name of Operation Fritz, began. Operation Barbarossa was a code name used by the Germans as they invaded the Soviet Union. As the German troops began to fail, it was a turning point in the war. The Germans were forced to fight a two-front war, which led to a shortage of supplies, which really affected Germany during WWII.
  • Pearl Harbor

    On December 7, 1941, Pearl Harbor was attacked by the Japanese. The Japanese places attacked the naval base in Hawaii, the attacked killed more than 2,300 Americans and completely destroyed the American battleships. The bombing affected the United States presence in World War II by having one of their naval bases destroyed, causing many deaths and a large lack of supplies.

    The Battle of Midway began on June 4, 1942 and ended on June 7, 1942. The Battle of Midway was when the United States defeated a Japanese attack by destroying Japan's strong naval team.

    On June 6, 1944, the Allies started to invade Normandy. The Allies started the invasion with naval, air, and land attacks on France, which was then occupied by Nazi Germany. D-Day forced Germans to fight a two front war again, yet again, Germany failed and couldn't handle war on both sides.

    Liberation of Paris

    Paris was finally starting to be liberated on August 19, 1944. The Liberation of Paris was a military battle trying to get Paris out of Germany's control. After they succeeded, this affected Paris and the thoughts about the war.
  • Hitler's Suicide

    On April 4, 1945, Adolf Hitler commits suicide. Hitler consumes a cyanide capsule, which then led to him shooting himself with a pistol. Hitler killed himself to escape the Russians before they got to him, he was urged to escape but he chose suicide, leaving the whole world shocked.
  • Surrender of Germany

    On May 7, 1945, Germany surrendered to the Allies, which lead to the ending of World War II. Germany surrendered because they knew the Allies were approaching from East and from the West, and they had no other option. This event began to end all battles of World War II, finally leading the world to world peace.

    Hiroshima/Nagasaki

    During the final period of World War II, the United States dropped two nuclear bombs on Japan beginning on August 6, 1945. The United States dropped the nuclear bombs after getting permission of the United Kingdom. The explosion affected about 90 percent of the city and killed more than 80,000 people. The bombing had to purpose to get Japan to surrender to bring World War II finally to an end.
