    2-Some of the German bombs did fall on their intended target of the docks, but many fell on the residential areas around them. Substantial parts of East and South-East London were devastated, 430 civilians were killed and 1600 seriously injured.

    2- The barrage lasted just two hours, but it was devastating

However, for the UK exceptions were made and thus, come 1940, the UK was increasingly dependent on supplies, arms and munitions from the US.

    During the Battle of Midway they lost four. Four out of Six. Most of the veteran highly skilled ship crew perished, including their captains. How is that not a disaster? (Most of the air crew survived but an aircraft carrier is a ship. It won’t run without good well trained ship crew.)

    The Russians were fighting to protect their homeground. They were used to it, although not always as stylishly dressed. The Nazis were invading because they intended to kill every Russian alive because of Hitler’s theory of racial superiority.
    The battle dragged out so long that the Russians ate only tiny amounts each day, usually soggy grain products, but also ate their pets and cannibalized orphans towards the end of the battle.
