Pearl Harbor
Pearl harbor was located in Oahu, Hawaii before it was attack by the Japanese. Japanese planned the attack for over a year which is almost the same amount of time the U.S cut off the oil towards them. Many lives were saved but unfortunately 2,000 died and approximately 1.700 were injured. -
Battle of Midway
The battle of Midway was a battle in the pacific between both U.S and Japanese. Six months after Japan bombed pearl harbor. Due to the U.S advances in code breaking they were able to stop Japan air-forces by countering them. The battle lead to thousands be dead but the U.S eventually got that win. -
Battle of Guadalcanal
The battle of Guadalcanal was carried by Douglas MacArthur in his strategy "Island Hoping". The battle lasted 6 months against the Japanese. The Japanese lost Almost all their troops approximately 24,000 of 36,000. Japanese decided to finally abandon the island which they referred as "The island of Death". -
D-Day
D Day was the day the U.S landed in the beaches of Normandy. The war lasted between 3 months. The U.S, Canada, Britain were fighting along each other to take out the Germans. By the end of that battle the whole northern France was destroyed but lead to the Allies defeating the Germans. -
First atomic bomb Dropped
Hiroshima was the first atomic bomb target the U.S targeted. They killed around 90,000-146,000 people were killed during that atomic bomb. Harry S. Truman ordered the dropping. -
2nd Atomic Bombing
Nagasaki was the 2nd atomic bomb target. Although the bomb was suppose to go towards another city in Japan the weather condition were horrible which cause the bomb to reroute and bomb Nagasaki. The bomb killed 39,000-80,000. The dropping was ordered by Harry s Truman -
Japan surrenders
After both bombing of Nagasaki and Hiroshima a month later, Japan decides to finally surrender which ends up ending World War 2
