    Hitler amazed Europe with the accuracy and speed of Germany's attack on Poland. His Blitzkrieg or lighting war used panzer divisions and had the help of airplanes too. The blitzkrieg stormed thru Poland and stunned Polands troops, within 4 weeks Poland surrendered.
  • Battle of Britain

    Battle of Britain
    Luftwaffle launches an attack in British air, naval bases, harbors, communication center and war industries. Britain fought back with radar systems to predict German attacks but Britain still had critical losses. Instead of bombing bases, Luftwaffe started bombing cities. This gave the British time to get their Air Force together. British Air Force soon started inflicting major loses on German bombers. Hitler postponed the invasion of Britain indefinitely.
  • Invasion of The Soviet Union

    Invasion of The Soviet Union
    Hitler felt the Soviets had a pity army and could be destroyed quickly. Problems in the Balkans delayed the invasion. Greece and Yugoslavia were seized in April and germans invaded the Soviet Union on one 22, 1941 and captured 2 million Russians. By November Hitler had Ukraine, city of Leningrad, and Moscow. The germans weren't ready for an early winter and were halted. a counterattack in December 1941 by the soviet army cam as an unpleasant ending to Germany's year.
  • Pearl Harbor

    Pearl Harbor
    Japanese aircrafts bombed the naval base at Pearl Harbor in Hawaii. Japan also attacked the Philippines and advanced on Malaya. The sunrise attack in Hawaii destroyed 350+ aircraft, sunk 18 ships and wounded and killed 3500+ Americans on American soil. By spring of 1942 almost all of southeast asia and most of the western pacific had fallen under Japan.
  • Battle of Midway Island

    Battle of Midway Island
    U.S. planes destroyed 4 Japanese aircraft carriers. The U.S. defeated the Japanese navy and gained naval superiority in the Pacific. This battle was a turning point in the war in the pacific theatre.
  • Battle of Stalingrad

    Battle of Stalingrad
    A successful defense by the Soviets for the city of Stalingrad against Germany's attack. Russians consider this battle the greater of the war. It was the bloodiest battles with 2 million casualties. The war ended February 2, 1943.
