First Concentration Camp Opens
The first concentration camp opened up in Dachau and housed 4,800 prisoners including politcal opponents, enemies, and mostly Jews. -
German Jews in Trouble
The German Jews were stripped of their rights by the Nuremberg Race Laws, declaring them subjects under Hitler's new government. They were not allowed to marry Germans and required people to get a marriage licsense. -
Hitler Breaks the Treaty
Adolf Hitler violated the Treaty of Versailles by introducing a military force to Germany and moving these troops to Rhineland (a non-military zone) claiming that France and Britain were threatening Germany. -
Spanish Civil War Starts
Rebels, called Nationalists revolted against the government and recieved help from the Nazis (Germany) and Italy while the Republicans recieved aid from the Soviet Union. -
Italy invades Ethiopia
Ethiopia was one of the only independent states in the European ruled Africa at the time until the Italina troops invaded Ethiopia and their poorly trained army, capturing the capital and Addis Ababa. -
World War II Starts
Germany invaded Poland, which caused Britain and France to declare war in 1939 but there has been debate on when World War II really started as Japan had been trying to conquer Asia for a while already starting in 1931 when the "Marco Polo Bridge Incident" occured between China and Japan. -

Germany began to invade France and other countries beginning on May 10, 1940. -
The Diary
Anne recieves her diary, Kitty, from her father for her 13th birthday. -
The Secret Annex
The day before, Margot recieved a letter to be deported to a labor camp so the Franks went into hiding. They brought all the clothes they could wear and some other things to keep them busy in the Annex. -
Fritz Pfeffer Joins
Fritz Pfeffer (Mr. Dussel in the Anne Frank play) joined the Franks and the Van Pels in hiding, becoming the eigth and final member of the Secret Annex. -
Betrayed and Taken
The Franks are betrayed and are arrested. They were taken to a police station and eventually to Westerbork Transit Camp. -
Moving Camps
Anne, Morgot, and Mrs. Van Pels were transported to Bergen-Belson, another concentration camp while Mrs. Frank stayed in Auschwitz-Berkaneu. -
Edith Frank Dies
Mrs. Frank dies of starvation and exhaustion at Auschwitz-Berkenau. -
Auschwitz Camp Liberated
Otto Frank was freed from the Auschwitz concentration camp by the Russian army and is first taken to France before coming back home.
