    The Start of World War II
    On September 09, 1939, Germany invaded Poland. After the invasion, Britain and France declared war on Germany, this being the main cause of World War II.Only two weeks later, The Soviet Union attacked Poland.

    The first German troops cross into France in May 1940. They then move into the countries capital Paris in June. France had allowed Germany to take control of the majority of the country. Although, there were still people who fought against Germany, they were called the Free French. France then would rapidly fall to Germany. Only a month later Germany would begin bombing Britain. However, due to Britain having Radar, they shot down most German attackers.

    Hitler persecuted the Balkans after his troops overran Yugoslavia and Greece. However, this was just the start of his real objective, to take invade The Soviet Union. On June 22, 1941, Hitler ordered the invasion of the Soviet Union without declaring war. The Soviet Unions tanks and aircraft greatly outnumbered Germany's. This forced Hitler and his troops to delay their next advance until October, also due to the harsh winter weather.

    After Operation Barbarossa Japan had been convinced that Germany would win the war, So they decided to retaliate against the United States. ON the morning of December 7, 1941, Japanese warplanes attacked US warships at the naval base in Hawaii. Killing more than 2,000 Americans and sinking 8 battleships and destroyed 180 aircraft. As a result, America joined the war. in only a few days, America was already involved in battles with Germany and Italy.

    Within only one day, Japan bombs The Philippines. The United States and The Philippines joined together to fight Japan since The Philippines was in U.S possession, but they were defeated. The Philippines surrendered in May 1942. Japan also conquered Singapore, The Netherlands Indies, and Burma.

    The Battle of Stalingrad
    The Battle of Stalingrad,was fought between Russian and Nazi forces. For only six months, more than two million troops fought in close-quarters engagements and all of those two million were either injured or killed. Hitler wanted to take control of Stalingrad for it's useful equipment. At first, Stalin and his troops were able to fend off Germany and transport most of the cities grain and cattle. Back and forth battles occurred until Russia's brutal Winter kicked in.

    After the long string of Japanese victories, signs of a change in the outcome of the war started ti occur. The U.S destroyed Japans first line carrier and most of their trained naval pilots.This was the first Japanese Naval defeat in 350 years. These attacks put an end to the Japanese invading any more of the Pacific. However, plans of invading the Midway Island were still practiced.

    Germany, not being accustomed to Russia's harsh weather. So Russia took advantage of this and took vantage points and practically surrounding Germany. By 1943 Russian troops and retaken their control of Stalingrad along with 100,000 German troops, they were imprisoned in Russian prison camps and either died of disease or starvation.

    D-Day
    On June 6, 1944, 176,000 troops from The US, Canada, and Great Britain deployed and attacked the beaches of Normandy. After freeing Paris on August 25, the Allies moved to Germany. Germany attempted to stop their advance during the Battle of Bulge.
