    Mao Zedong heads Long March
    The Long March were the Communists headed by Mao Zedong and was an excape from the Kuomintang. The Kuomintang was a Nationalist party headed by many different people. It's first leader was Sun Yixian. The Communists were forced to march to the northern part of China from the southern part of China.

    Germany invades Poland; France and Great Britain declare war on Germany
    Hitler was invading many countries during this period. He soon turned his attention towards Poland. France and Great Britain and France had a defense agreement and demanded the withdrawal of German troops in Poland. Britian saw the invasion as a threat.

    The Americans intercepted a Japanese code letter and decoded it. They knew that the Japanese were going to strike but didnt know when. On December 7th, 1941 the Japanese bombed a naval base at Pearl Harbor in Hawaii. This tragedy killed over 2,300 Americans.

    In 1945, the Germans signed a surrender at the Allied headquarters in Reims, France. After their period of invansions all over Europe, Gernany finally had only one more country that stood standing. Britain was the only country that Adolf Hitler (German Nazis) did not conquer. Adolf Hitler was unable to conquer them and lost to Britian.

    Allies use atomic bombs on Hiroshima and Nagasaki
    The Americans bombed their first atomic bomb on the city of Hiroshima. It killed near 90% of the city's population. More people died later due to radiation exposure. Three days later, the Americans bombed the city of Nagasaki which killed around 40,000 people. Because of these bombings, Emporer Hirohito surrendered.

    In 1945, Representatives of 50 countries met in San Francisco for the United Nations Conference on International Organization to draw up the United Nations Charter. Poland was not represented but then signed it later becoming the one of the 51 countries represented.
