    Hobbes published the book "Leviathan" in 1651. The book helped influence the creation of different forms of government. As a result democracy was born. The book was published because it was realized that change was needed and this was a way to allow it to happen.   • "Two Treatises on Government" is published

    John Locke published the book "Two Treatises on Government" in 1689. The book was about how slavery is wrong. Many believed that everyone was a slave to the natural born king. Locke argued against that and that everyone had free will. This was used to explain rights given by God.     Montesquieu published the book "The Spirit of the Laws" in 1748. It was written to explore different forms of government and how it affected the people.     Rousseau published the book "The Social Contract" in 1750. The book explains how we are free at birth but as we age, we loose freedom.     Beccaria publishes "On Crimes and Punishments" in 1764. The book explains how the government is given its power by society. This concept is called the social contract. Along with the social contract is the idea of utilitarianism. This is the idea that the government should only do what is best for the people.     All three estates met to address ongoing issues in France. This effected history by allowing formal meetings to occur in public to find a solution and hold people accountable.

    The Bastille was emptied of its goods during a raid caused by fear of the government. It effected history by showing that the people were willing to fight for their families and in self defense.
  • Decleration of Rights of Man and Citizens

    A declaration was written to explain all rights of men. It effected history by giving set rules on what each person is entitled to.
  • March on Versailles

    Women marched into France with items such as pitch forks, pikes, and muskets to show how the revolution was effecting them. This effected history by showing how they were included in this revolution.
  • Gens de Colour demand equal rights from France

    Men of color demanded to have equal rights of the white men. This effected history by having someone stand against racism.
  • French forces admit defeat to the slave armies and evaccuate their forces

    The army was forced to surrender and admit to defeat after slaves over ruled them. This effected history by having even one of the strongest armies being defeated by a weaker army.
  • Beheading of King Louis the XIV

    The King was beheaded after staving the citizens due to a luxury life. The effected history by killing many people due to starvation and a poor lifestyle.
  • Reign of Terror

    The Reign of Terror killed many innocent people caused by suspicion without evidence. The effect was that many lives were lost and France had to begin again.
  • French National Assembly granted free blacks full French rights in Saint Domingue

    Free slaves were granted full citizenship in Saint Domingue. This effected the French by giving them more citizens to take care of and have as useful citizens.
  • Colony "Saint-Domingue" is destroyed

    Saint Domingue was destroyed and many citizens were lost due to death. This effected the amount of citizens that France had and how many people were now able to work.
  • Napoleon as Emporor

    Napoleon became ruler of France. The effect was that he completely destroyed France with debt, death, and war.
