    The rise of the Ottoman Turks
    A new group of Turks under their leader Osman, began to build power in the corner of the Anatolian Peninsula. They began to move into the Balkans, and recruited Christians and converted them into Islam. The Ottoman's began to master new technology. This was important because it built their dynasty to be more powerful and too continue moving along.

    The fall of the Byzantine Empire
    They were separated by the Sea of Marmara, connected the Black Sea and the Aegean Sea, which leads to the Mediterranean Sea. The Byzantine Empire had its set control on here for centuries. Under the control of Mehmed II, the Ottomans moved the end the Byzantine Empire, with it's 80,000 troops vs 7,000 defenders. Mehmed let siege to get Constantinople. After getting Constantinople they had control over European and Asian parts of the Ottoman Empire.

    The Militant Catholicism
    The biggest supporter of the militant Catholicism was King Philip II. He inherited the kingdoms of Milan, Naples, Sicily, Netherlands, and Spain. From 1556-1598, were the years of Spanish's greatness. He led the powerful Spanish navy under his commands. This was important because around 1500, Catholic kingdoms in Spain regained back the Muslim areas and expelled the Spanish Jews. Making muslims convert or go into exile. Spain's actions led to victories and defeats in wars.

    Expansion of The Ottoman Empire
    The Ottoman Empire from Istanbul. The Turks controlled the Balkans, and Anatolian Peninsula. Ottoman forces went from the westward along the African coast almost to the Strait of Gibraltar. Also they began to expand into Europe, back into the Balkans, and the Romanian territory of Walachia. Ottomans advanced up to the Danube, Belgrade, then began to move westward towards the Mediterranean, then the Ottomans retreated and were pushed out of Hungary. They would never again be a threat in Europe.

    Elizabeth Tudor took the throne of England in 1558. Under her leadership, her kingdom became the leader of the Protestant nations of Europe and laid the basic foundations of a world empire. She repealed the favoring laws towards the Catholics. She tried hard to keep Spain and France from becoming too powerful, and if one nation was becoming more powerful England would support the weaker nation. She feared that war would be to much of a disaster, by doing it, it balanced each countries power.

    The Stuarts and The Divine Rights
    The Stuart rulers began taking control when the king of Scotland, Elizabeth's cousin, ascended the English throne and became James I. He believed that he received all of his power from god. Parliament didn't think much of the divine of rights but it had come together and it assumed the monarch and parliament ruled together. These started a conflict, father vs son. After this the parliament passed a Petition of Right, and it limits the kings ability.

    The Spanish Netherlands consisted of 17 provinces, one of Philip's richest parts of his empires. His attempts to strengthen his control in this region caused resentment and opposition from the nobles of the Netherlands. He tried to crush the state of Calvinism in the Netherlands. This was important because the provinces United and became the united provinces.

    Revolutions of England or English Revolution
    The series of rebellions and civil wars the shook up Europe were called the Revolutions of England. The war was between the king and the parliament to determine what role each of them should play in the government. It was important at that time because just like any war people are dying, and this was one too determine who would run the government.
