    Realists and Romantists : Europe

a realist is a person who tends to view or represent things as they really are. Realists tend to be the older generation with knowledge based on rationalism. A romantic is on the opposite side of the spectrum where a person is inspired with or dominated by idealism and have a desire for adventure. Romantics are usually classified as the younger generation. I was able to relate this lesson to myself and how people have stayed consistent throughout the years.

    Bubonic Plague : Europe

The Bubonic Plague came to Europe and killed twenty million people. This was one - third of the world's population then. Plague reappeared every few generations for centuries. Modern sanitation and public-health practices have greatly mitigated the impact of the disease but have not eliminated it. The plague has not been present recently, but damaged the world and its people during the later nineteen forties and early nineteen fifties.
  • Period: Jan 1, 1543 to Dec 31, 1543

    Scientific Revolution : Europe

This was the time of modern science during the early modern period, when developments in mathematics, physics, astronomy, biology, and chemistry transformed views of society and nature. This time period introduced and refreshed my memory of famous artists, mathematicians, and scientists of this time. I enjoyed making the "Join the Movement" poster as well.
  • The Charge of the Light Birgade : Russia

The Charge of the Light Birgade : Russia
When we did this poem I immediately found interest in it because of its reference in the movie The Blindside. I enjoyed picking this piece apart and digging deeper into some of Alfred's most powerful lines. My favorite line is, "Boldly they rode and well, Into the jaws of Death."

    Auschwitz : Poland

This concentration camp was supposedly the worst that there ever was. It is still today the most well-known camp from the Holocaust. It is mainly remembered because of its gas chambers. The reason this left a big impact on me was due to the fact that I read the book Night by Elie Wiesel in English and I was able to learn and compare ideas and facts about this particular place. The image in my mind was able to expand.
  • The Boy in the Striped Pajamas : Auschwitz

The Boy in the Striped Pajamas : Auschwitz
I had seen this movie prior to this year, however it is an amazing movie. It's extremely sad, but very eye opening. This movie gives a very unique and different perspective on the Holocaust. An innocent little boy has his life taken under his won father's order.
  • The Death of Hitler : Berlin

The Death of Hitler : Berlin
Studying this death was very interesting. There are many different theory of what happened to this man before he died. The group ended up presenting that he committed suicide. However, different sources believe he was tortured and brought back to life and others say he was barred alive. The world still bases its knowledge off of the suicide theory.

Songs of War : United States

I throughly enjoyed this song assignment. I never knew that many of the songs we listened to were about the Vietnam War and our involvement in it. Many of the lyrics were very personal and heart wrenching. My favorite song had to be the Jon Lennon song.

Zodiac Killer : California, United States

The presentation I did on the Zodiac Killer was very creepy yet intriguing. The time period in which this occurred was following the action of entering the Vietnam War. Many US citizens were paranoid of this murder and the Son of Sam because our country was already very torn and struggling with the involvement of war.
  • Modern Day Slavery : United States

Modern Day Slavery : United States
When we focused on today's slavery, my eyes were opened. I couldn't believe that still today we use people in such inhumane ways. I never thought slavery was truly an issue today, but it definitely is. I was the student in our class period that used the most slaves. From having cars, clothes, jewelry, a large home, everything played into the equation of using a total of about sixty some slaves.
