Working at Dairy Queen

  • My love for Dairy Queen is born

My love for Dairy Queen is born
Every since I was a kid, my favorite restaurant was Dairy Queen. Corny right?
  • First Day

    First Day
    Oh boy. This was rough.
  • Chickens

    Chickens
Working at Dairy Queen has brought me friendships. Some that have worked out and some that have not, but through these friendships I have had some great memories. Chickens being one of them.
  • The Oven

    The Oven
So, breaking things comes with life right? You learn from mistakes right? Well, I have broken some pretty major things at Dairy Queen. Like the oven. I guess I learned that you can't pull out the oven that is on the cart to fill cups because this will happen.
  • Boxes

    Boxes
As with any fast food place, boxes are abundant. Because these boxes are abundant, we have fun with them. Here you see Yolanda wearing a box after work just for the fun of it.
  • The Blender

    The Blender
In order to make a shake you must blend it in the machine that has a long spindle that comes down. Over the past year the people at the top of the DQ food chain have decided that the cups can be paper thin and still work. This is incorrect and someone should speak up to these people and make them blend shakes and moolattes and freezes.
  • Ice cream

    Ice cream
The ice-cream at Dairy Queen comes in bags with a plugged hole that you hook a tube to so it can make soft serve. Some previous workers (That shall not be names ahem Sheldon ahem) didn't understand that these bags will break when dropped from approximately waist height. This is the result and after, lots and lots of mopping.
  • Amy is the goat

    Amy is the goat
Amy is Suzie's daughter. Amy could care less about the Dairy Queen and reluctantly comes in when she is forced. Because of this, the days when Amy is there are the best days.
  • 69 orders

    69 orders
Sixty-nine orders seems like a lot, but not to us amazing DQ workers. In the summer time we can have close to 200 orders in a 4 hour period. That's a lot! but not this day...
  • The sprayer

    The sprayer
The floors of DQ have seen better days once were done with them. (Well water wise anyways) Be careful where you step whenever the sprayer comes out!
  • The Sprayer man, the sprayer

    The Sprayer man, the sprayer
So um yeah, the sprayer. Better watch out if you're walking by the dish room and the wrong person is doing dishes...
  • BANANA!!!!!

    BANANA!!!!!
This banana has been through a lot. It lived in the trunk of my car for a good month or so and has since retreated to my closet.
  • Oh what this banana has been through

Oh what this banana has been through
You see this innocent banana has been in our torturous hands for some time now. In that time span it has been beaten, dirtied and dragged around the block behind Paige's car at approximately 9:30 (30 minutes before closing while I was still wearing the drive headset. If you came at this time and were not served we are deeply sorry for the inconvenience)
  • The struggles

    The struggles
Whether it be spilling Oreos all over the floor, breaking the oven, or destroying a cup in the blender, the struggle is always very very real.
  • Fun Fun Fun

    Fun Fun Fun
While working at DQ I have learned to loosen up and have some fun. Whether it be burning chicken strips until they are hard and black or throwing ice at each other for the fun of it :)
  • The customers are ruthless

    The customers are ruthless
Most times the customers are okay. Some are very nice and others, not so much. Some are ruthless. Especially those who do this to the bathroom. Like seriously, there is a plunger in there for a reason. None of us get paid enough to want to clean up after your mess. SERIOUSLY.
  • Sundays are slow

    Sundays are slow
    So at work we color
  • Cakes

    Cakes
It may look easy but it's not. Try working with extremely airy or soft runny ice cream. At least they don't let me decorate them.
  • One year

    One year
Throughout my year at DQ I have learned a lot and none at all. I have learned to be respectful and how to project my voice so people can hear me. I have not learned that you need to take twist ties off bags when heating them in the microwave.
  • Friendships

    Friendships
Friendships were made. Friendships were lost. Over this past year I have seen many workers come and go. There have been at least 20 people I have seen start and leave in just a year of working at DQ. There are only 3 OG DQ employees left, this makes me kind of sad
    :(
