  • Women's Right Convention

    In Seneca Falls, New York, there was a first women/s right convention. There was 68 women and 32 men sign the Declaration of Sediments.
  • National Woman Suffrage Association

    Susan Anthony and Elizabeth Stanton form the National Woman Suffrage Association. Their goal was to achieve voting rights for women.
  • American Woman Suffrage Association

    Lucy Stone and Henry Blackwell form the American Woman Suffrage Association. This group focuses on gaining voting rights for women through amendments to state consitutions.
  • First Women's Suffrage Law

    Wyoming passes the first women's suffrage law. In 1869, women begin serving on juries.
  • NAWSA

    The National Women Suffrage Association and the American Women Suffrage Association came together to form NAWSA. It obtain voting rights for women.
  • National Association of Colored Women

    The National Association of Colored Women is formed. It brought more than 100 black women's clubs.
  • Congressional Union

    Alice Paul and Lucy Burns form the Congressional Union. They work to gove women the right to vote. This group was later renamed the National Women's Party.
  • First U.S. Birth Control Clinic

    In Brooklyn, New York, Margaret Sanger opens the first U.S. birth control clinic. It was shut down 10 days later and Margaret is arrested.
  • Federal Woman Suffrage Amendment

    The federal woman suffrage amendment was written by Susan Anthony. It was introduced in Congress in 1878, and is passed by the House of Representatives.
  • 19th Amendment

    The 19th Amendment granted women the right to vote. It was signed into law by Secretary of State Bainbridge Colby.
