Wisconsin Conservation Deer and Elk Committee Meeting Minutes (For Education Purposes Only)

  • November 10th, 2016 Meeting Minutes

    The County Deer Association Council was brought up at the start of the meeting. The council had been unsuccessful in decreasing their antler-less population. There was also talk of having the council being in control of handling the blame or overpopulation in deer and the complaints of land owners. Lastly, there was a proposal to have an all-in-one 16 season to eliminate multiple seasons and limit the complications.
  • March 18th, 2017 Meeting Minutes

    The meeting discussed the 2016 Deer Hunting season. 29% of hunters happened to be women and there was a 90% compliance rate with registration. Looking at Law Enforcement, there only happened to be 5 non-fatal hunting accidents during the season. Blaze Pink was not an issue for correct colors to wear during the hunting season.
  • August 12th, 2017 Meeting Minutes

    One major discussion point was to allow deer tracking dog handlers to dispatch wounded deer with fire arms. The committee is rally pushing for hunters to have licenses for this kind of activity. Another motion was to ban deer scents, dips and licks in Wisconsin. Chronic Wasting Disease is transferable through liquids, and preventing the sale of this can help stop it spreading nation wide.
  • August 11th, 2018 Meeting Minutes

    A major order of business was to lift restrictions on public and private land for deer hunting which was rejected. One interesting motion was to allow counties to phone-in deer related accidents and obtain the carcass for personal use. Board members voted on allowing a separate season for hunting elk using archery but the motion had failed 8-12. Lastly, the board mentioned to have designated bio-waste drop of sites for each county.
  • March 16th, 2019 Meeting Minutes

    The first order business was a brief history of Chronic Wasting Disease and a testimonial form a acid deer farmer for 30 years. Wrapped up the 2018 Deer hunting season with a 94% compliance rate. Next, an update was made of deer predatory research and how the study will be carried out in the following months. Law enforcement update settle some disputes and covered feedback toward tagging angst.
