  • Treaty of Paris

    Treaty of Paris
    It was the end of the war of Independence (1775 - 1783). The first 13 United States colonies were acquired, establishing the first U.S boundaries (significant western territory. The treaty was negotiated by Great Britain and the U.S (by the five member commissioners John Adams, Benjamin Franklin, John Jay, Thomas Jefferson, and Henry Laurens + King George iii).
  • Lewis and Clark Expedition

    Lewis and Clark Expedition
    a select group of military men, called the Corps of Discovery and civilians (including the leaders Captain Meriwether Lewis and Second Lieutenant William Clark) were sent to explore US lands that were gained in 1803 including the louisiana purchase and the pacific northwest in order to create possible trade growth and create maps of the land. The Lewis and Clark Expedition traveled along the Missouri River from St. Louis to the mouth of the Columbia River. 1804- 1806

    Inventions and Industrialization

    Through the years of 1807 - 1812 three important new extensions to the united states were being built, those that included the Steamboat, toll roads, and the cumberland road. The steamboat created new ways of travel and trade, as while the toll bridges and roads collected new taxes and prevented any unwanted company from entering, these were called "turnpikes". These inventions were all created during the presidency of James Madison, which was a good move during his presidency.

    The war of 1812 was between the United States and Great Britain (declared by president James Madison) lasting fro two years. This war was also knows as the "second war for independance" because the british were attempting to restrict U.S trade and drew to kidnapping American Seamen for forced labor on British war ships.

    An economic plan was created by Henry Clay using the ideas of Alexander Hamilton in the United States. The American System created a strong federal government in the economy. Based on new national bank, taxing foreign goods and creating a subsidized transportation infrastructure of new roads and canals. The new economic system created new barriers between foreign trade, compete with the british and made new canal systems with tax money.

    The 1818 Convention and Treaty + The Florida Treaty

    the "Convention of Commerce", was a meeting held in October 1818 to negotiate a treaty between the Monroe administration and the British. This treaty set the 49th parallel boarder of Canada. (during service of James Monroe). The Treaty of Florida (Adams Onis TReaty) created the boarder between New Spain (Mexico) and the United States.

    The Monroe Doctrine was created by James Monroe (president of U.S at the time), declaring against foreign colonization, intervention of the Americas and the intention for the United States to remain neutral in European wars.
  • Indian Removal Act

    Indian Removal Act
    Andrew Jackson established the act of forcefully removing the "indians" to territory west of the United States, while the other side had just discovered gold. Indians were forcefully migrated between 1830 and 1840.

    The invasion of Mexico lasted just under two years from April 25, 1846 – February 2, 1848. This war was started due to unresolved boarder disputes mainly between texas and Mexico, the was fought in Texas, New Mexico, California and Central, Northern and Eastern Mexico including Mexico City.All during the presidency of James Polk.

    The ajoining States of the U.S during the expansion

    As the U.S expansion continued to go on, the United States acquired the lands south of the 49th parallel as a US possession in the Oregon Treaty, territory in New Mexico and Arizona, the Alaska purchase for $7.2 million, and the purchase of Hawaii.
