Warren Buffett was born on August 30, 1930 in Omaha, Nebraska. His father was a stock broker, his mother was a homemaker, and he had one older sister (later also a little sister). -
First Investment
At age 11, Buffett made his first investment in Cities Service stock. The stock dropped from $38 to $27, but he waited until it was back up to $40 to sell it. The stock later jumped to $200 per share, and he noted this as a valuable lesson that investing requires patience. -

By age 56, he hit the billion dollar mark and by then end of the year had a net worth of $1.4 billion. -
Donated to Charity
Warren Buffett donated about $2.86 billion to the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation, which was 85% of his fortune. This became the biggest charitable amount in history. -
Diagnosed with cancer
After being diagnosed with the beginning stages of prostate cancer, Warren Buffett underwent radiation treatment and successfully finished in November of the same year.
