    on February 19 the February revolution began.The Tsar's government announces food rationing, leading to panic buying in cities, where food availability is already very low. This made a higher demand for food which increased the price of it.

    on February 27th Two garrisons(groups of troops) of soldiers in Petrograd shoot their officers rather than obey orders to fire on civilians. Mensheviks and striking workers reform the Petrograd Soviet.

    on March 1st the leaders of France and Britain formally recognise the Provisional Government as the official government of Russia.

    workers in the city’s largest factory,an engineering factory, demanded a 50% wage increase so that they could buy food. The management refused so the workers went on strike.

    In March 1917 crowds rioted on the streets. The soldiers joined them. Then the members of the Duma joined the rebellion; they forced the Tsar to abdicate(renounce ones throne).Soldiers mutiny and join riots.

  • July 1917- provisional government under pressure!!!

    on July 12 the provisional government were put under a lot of pressure by the generals so they reintroduced the death penalty for deserting or mutinying soldiers at the front. this made sure they didn't leave the army and lose their battles.

    on August 25th The ‘Kornilov affair’ happened. General Kornilov said his intentions to march on Petrograd and free the country from radical socialists. he tried to gain power for himself. He claims to have the approval of the Provisional Government, however this is unclear.

    On October 10th the October Revolution begins. The Bolshevik Central Committee declares that “an armed uprising is inevitable(unavoidable)”. The Petrograd Soviet creates Military Revolutionary Committee (MRC) to set up the revolution

    in November 1917 the Bolsheviks made great slogans like "peace, bread and land" and "all power to the soviets". lenin made these so that he could get help to overthrow the government. other parties parties said they couldn't achieve these but there arguments were too complicated to understand. so the Bolsheviks gained the peoples support.
  • November 1917- collapse of the provisional government

    by November the provisional government were completely unorganized and were failing in their decisions. this is when the Bolsheviks overthrew the provisional government. the Bolsheviks were led by Vladimir lenin
