    80,000 Vietcong troops attacked more 100 than towns/cities in South Vietnam on the Buddhist holiday Tet. The Tet Offensive made people in the United States realize the war was not almost over as they were promised.

    American soilders opened fire on several hundred innocent women and children. In this massacre 300-500 were killed.

    Lydon B. Johnson passed the Civil Rights Act of 1968. This ended discrimination in housing.
  • Kent State Massacre

    Kent State Massacre
    After Nixon announced temporary war on Cambodia, students protested that Nixon was "expanding the war not reducing it". Students burnt down the ROTC building and destroyed local property. 4 students were killed during this event.
  • 26th Amendment

    26th Amendment
    The 26th Amendment was passed as a result of an issue college students had with the draft. They thought it was unfair that they could be drafted into the war and lose their life, but could not vote. This amendment states that anyone over 18 years old can vote and cannot be denied by any state or legislation.
