The U.S operation Rolling Thunder was a destruction mission. We wanted to take out North Vietnams transportation, air defense, base, and there men. -

It was on this day that the U.S joined the war. They fought for the the South Vietmenese against North Vietnams want to make it a communist country. -
Drafting
The U.S started drafting people from ages 18 to 25. The draft called numbers on cards that were handed out and if your number was called you then had to go join the war. Over 500,000 people were drafted. -
My Lai Massacre
U.S soildiers invaded small towns in My Lai. They killed hundreds of women and children and the burning the towns down. They only did this because they supposedly believed Vietcong was there. They believe 300 to 500 people were killed. -
Kent State Massacre
Riots on the war started at Kent State and at the beginning they were peaceful. Near the end of the day the riot got a lot more violent they statrwed burning the buildings and raging. Nixon and the National Guard went down to kent State to stop the comotion. Some of the soldiers opened fire and killed four people.
