  • SDS Founded

    The SDS or Students for a Democratic society was a student activist movement that was one of the main representatives in the far left.
  • Gulf of Tonkin Resolution

    This agreement gave the President broad congressional approval for the expansion of the Vietnam War. It was also known as the Southeast Asia Resolution.
  • Tet offensive

    70,000 North Vietnamese launched an attack on the Buhdist holiday of Tet. This was a turning point in the war, and it was lead by the Vietcong soldiers.
  • My Lai Massacre

    A group of AMerican soldiers killed most of the civilians in the South Vietnamese town, My Lai. It is believed as many as 500 South Vietnamese were killed.
  • Nixon wins election

    Richard Nixon won by a slim margin. He defeated Hubert H. Humphrey and was elected president.
  • Vietnamization Introduced

    Vietnamization was a strategy introduced by President Nixon to slowly end the Vietnam war by pulling troops out little by little.
  • Kent State Massacre

    On May 4, 1970, students were protesting the Vietnam war, and 9 students were shot by National guard. 4 were killed from this incident.
