Video Game Timeline

  • 1970s

    In the 1970s, we see the creation of multiple historical games such as the Oregon Trail, Pong, and Maze Wars. Oregon Trail being created by three college students in Minnesota and being first originally being played on a single teletype machine. Pong being developed by Bushnell and Alcorn was the original arcade table tennis game which transcended arcade games moving forward. Now onto Maze Wars, well before doom ever came to exist, Maze War turned out to be the very first first-person shooter.

  • Pac-Man

    In 1980, Toru Iwatani creates the legendary game known as Pac-Man. Going on sale in July 1980. Two years later, Ms. Pac-man is released and creates a giant jump for gender equality and becoming the best-selling arcade game of all time.
  • Donkey Kong

    The very popular Nintendo's Donkey-Kong, featured a bright character that we have all grown to love today. Known as Jumpman, in his first appearance Mario is thus created. Made into a star by his creator Shigeru Miyamoto later on in Super Mario Bros. Becoming a one of a kind hit.
