  • French and Indian War

    French and Indian War
    This was a catalyst to the rest of the American Revolution. The war ended with the Treaty of Paris however it did not end there. The war caused much destruction therefor putting the British in debt causing them to later impose taxes on the people living in the colonies of America.
  • Stamp Act

    Stamp Act
    This act caused there to be a tax on all printings that occurred in the US. It was imposed by the British. This was the beginning of boycotts and revolts against taxes.
  • Townsend Act

    Townsend Act
    Another tax imposed by the British. It provoked anger from the American colonies causing many groups to go against the taxes and to boycott such things.
  • Tea Act

    Tea Act
    Imposed in order to help the British East India company whom was struggling to bring in a significant profit. Ultimately let to the Boston tea party where colonies dumped boxes of tea from the British into the bays.
  • Battle of Lexington and Concord

    Battle of Lexington and Concord
    First battles fought during the revolutionary war. This battle is important because it is the start to many causalities that would later occur in this battle and the others in the revolution.
  • Creation of Inalienable Rights

    Creation of Inalienable Rights
    Brought forth the idea of basic human rights including:
    Life
    Liberty
    The pursuit of happiness
    Was significant because these ideas had not been brought up before these presented in 1775.

    Olive Branch Petition
    Final attempt made by the American colonies to avoid the American Revolution with Britain. However British denied the peace and the result of this was the many wars fought during the revolution.
  • Declaration of Independence

    Declaration of Independence
    Allowed American colonies to gain independence from Great Britain. This was the final straw in becoming an independent nation from the British and therefor was the beginning of the future created United States of American. This allowed us to pursue our own ideas and government.

    This writing helped sway people into believing they should fight for independence. This document challenged the way that the British government ruled over the colonies and was a factor in pushing people to value and want their independence.
  • Battle of Saratoga

    Battle of Saratoga
    This was the turning point for Americans in the revolutionary war. This is where they gained their confidence in the war allowing them to gain more allies as it was seen that they might actually have a chanced in winning the war.
  • Battle of Yorktown

    Battle of Yorktown
    This battle is where the colonies forced the British to surrender under the General Cornwallis. This is significant because it is known as the end of the revolutionary war and was a big part in the colonies gaining confidence in becoming independent.
  • US Constitution

    US Constitution
    This document established basic rights for citizens, a form of government, and fundamental laws. This is significant because it was the first documented time in history that a government had been placed under a constitution. Also, it is still how the US government works today.
  • Bill of Rights

    Bill of Rights
    This document ensured Americans basic rights and civil liberties. The Bill of Rights state 10 amendments that can note be taken away from United State citizen. Such as the right to bear arms and freedom of speech,protest, press , and petition.
  • Civil War

    Civil War
    This was a war between the Northern and Southern states of the United States where they fought over the ideas of both slavery and democracy. In the end this war proved that democracy would work based off of the North’s victory.
  • Battle of Gettysburg

    Battle of Gettysburg
    Bloodiest battle in the civil war and promoted Robert E Lee not to invade the north. Therefor the North was victorious and slavery was abolished and democracy would be the form of government implemented in the United States
