    Shirley Temple
    The year was 1931, and they were making a series of one-reel short films called Baby Burlesks. After the Baby Burlesks, each time getting strong reviews and praise from all who saw her. In late 1933, she was contacted by Fox Film Corporation. In all, Shirley starred in 14 short films, 43 feature films and over 25 storybook movies in a career that spanned three decades, from 1931 until 1961.
    She was important because instead of people watching the war they could watch her and be happy for once.

    This film focuses on the tribulations of a plantation-owning family during the American Civil War. her father gets and letter saying that he has to go to the war. She tried anything to make her father not go to the war. Its a sad story about what a little girl had to go through when the war happened. This is important because it showed what people had to go through when the war started.

    Holland surrenders to germany
    German bombers attack Holland at 03.55 on May 10th.As with all early blitzkrieg attacks, the Germans had the element of surprise. They tried putting ships down the river to stop Germany, but it just became an easy target for German bombers. By the end of May 10th, the Germans had captured Waalhaven airbase and the vital bridge at Dordrecht. Germans were in the perfect position to attack the heart of Holland’s most important commercial centre. Its important because this gave Germany more power

    germans fled into Paris and Paris people fled out. By the time German tanks rolled in 2 million Parisians had already fled. That time Gestapo went to work and starting arresting, spying on and etc to any one that was left in town. It was important because it froze the American assets of the axis power. Made them mad and joined the war.

    Japan Invades Hong Kong
    The first wave of Japan troops landed with artillery fir for cover. The order from their commander was take no prisoners. They captured solders and proceeded to bayonet them to death. The Japanese quickly took control of key reservoirs. They Threatened the troops with a slow death by thirst. They finally surrendered and they got control on Christmas day. I chose this because this is how japan got control of Hong Kong
  • Negro League

    Negro League
    The Negro League were United States professional black baseball leagues. They broadly included professional black teams outside the leagues,Because blacks were not accepted into major and minor leagues. The first know baseball game between blacks was held November 15, 1859. Just like regular leagues they saw many stars miss because they were fighting. The negro leagues were barley recognizable. I chose this because today its way different and i wanted to learn about the negro leagues.
  • Duct Tape

    Duct Tape
    Duct tape was invented during world war 2. American Soldiers use the strong tape for everything from repairing window to making temporary bandages. After war the tape was used to hold ventilation ducts together, getting the name duct tape. It also got its gray color from that too. Duct tape is a cloth often coated with polyurethane I chose this because its cool how things that we use today was used way different back then.

    Many boxers went over seas to fight for their country. Many propaganda politics were posted. because of the war world champion ship divisions were frozen. 1940's did have some historic world tittle fights and rivalries. The heavyweight division was dominated by Louis. Boxing in the 40's in many ways reflected worldwide events that affected other endeavors as well. I chose this because back then boxing was really popular and now these days we rarely hear about boxing.
  • Germany Surrenders

    Germany Surrenders
    General Alfred Jodl, signs the unconditional surrender of all German forces. At first he hoped to limit the terms, but Dwight Eisenhower demanded complete surrender. If the demand wasn't met, Eisenhower was prepared to seal off the western front. The fighting in the east was still going on for almost another day, but the war in the west was over. I chose this because this is what ends world war 2.
