Germans Destroy Lidice
Adolph Hitler personally gave the order of the destruction of Lidice in retaliation of the assassination of Reinhardt Heinrich in Prague. The village of Lidice was set on fire and the remains of the village was destroyed. German units shot all of the men in the village over the age of 16 and deported most of the women and children to camps in Germany. The destruction of Lidice became a symbol of the barbarity of German occupation policies and a rallying cry for opponents of the Nazi regime. -

Jews in hiding risked many punishments, also the people protecting them. Such activities like hiding Jews was capital offence. People could tell the police and not be prosecuted if they told the police by 9/9/42. Even people not hiding Jews got persecuted if they left there designated area. Polish people risked there and the lives of there family to help the Jews. Many family's even tried to help by giving food to the Jews. -
