    President Theodore Roosevelt wanted the US to have a more direct influence over Latin American countries. So he added the Rossevelt Corollary, an addition to the Monroe Doctrine, that gave the US the right to directly intervene in any Latin American issue, which he used to give the US the Panama Canal.

    After the sinking of the Lusitania, Germany had promised freedom of the seas to US ships, so long as they didn't carry weapons to Britain or France. So when Germany resumed unrestricted submarine warfare, a call to arms arose in America, and war was had.

    Following the end of the Great War, president Woodrow Wilson was set to change the world. After providing critical financial and militaristic support to the Allies, he stood poised to usher in a new era of peace and democracy. His 14 point plan would unite all nations together in a common goal, to avoid all future wars. Sadly, he couldn't get congress to approve on joining his League of Nations, and war was entered a few short decades later.

    Trying to undo what Teddy Roosevelt acomplished with the Roosevelt Corollary, President Franklin Roosevelt passed the Good Neighbor Policy, designed to have the US leave the Latin American countries alone, in an attempt to keep them on the side of democracy during upcoming conflicts of ideals.

    When it was clear the Nazi Germany was poised to renew the conflicts thought to be ended with World War 1, America passed the Neutrality Act, proclaiming that this war we would not get involved in, in an attempt to preserve American interests.

    Lend-Lease Act
    Following the end of liquid British funds coming to America to puchase weapons during WWII, the US passed the Lend-Lease Act, which let the Eupean Allies buy now and pay later, a shift from the fully neutral stance made several years prior.

    Following the attack on Pearl Harbor, the US had no option but to declare war on Japan. However, because of an alliance between the Axis powers, by declaring war on Japan, the US caused Germany and Italy to declare war on America, forcing the US to fight a two front war, in the PAcific and European theaters.

    With the conclusion of World War Two, all nations were ready for wars to end. So, with much American support, the United Nations was created, a step up from Wilson's League of Nations. This was the final step to show how American foreign policy changed from Washington ideals, an agreement to get involved in Europe during the threat of any future war.
