    When the Europeans came to India
    Vasco da gama came to India to trade spices. he came for spices like ginger, cinnamon, and peppers. years later more European countries started to go to India for spices using vasco's way to get there.
  • Sepoy Rebellion

    Sepoy Rebellion
    The sepoy didn't like the bullet cover which was made out of animal fat and was out of their religion. The bullet was covered in cow fat and they didn't eat pork so they couldn't bit the casing off the bullet to shoot it. they weren't so happy and later revolted.

    Mahatma Gandhi was born in october of 1869 in Porbandar, india. he was a leader in india peacefully fighting against the british. he lead the indian independence and was a major leader in most of india's attempts to get independence. Gandhi was assassinated in January 30, 1948 by a hindi in New Delhi, India.
  • Vietnam's independence

    The french took over Vietnam in 1887. By defeating japan in WWII and taking their land. They fought in an eight revolutionary war to get their land back with a peace treaty. A leader named Ho Chi Minh was a vietnam leader and wanted communist but another part of the country didn't. This sled into a civil war with the north coming out on top and communist was put into the country as government.

    gandhi's first act of civil disobedience was in 1893. trying to get independence for india but doing it in a way that no one has done in that time. he did it peacefully and he protested until he and india got their independence.

    Mao zedong's long march was a military retreat of the red army. with Mao zedong and his inspired followers walked on a 6,000 mile trip with 86,000 communist. only 8,000 survived out of the 86,000 and it was to flee from the Kuomintang army.

    In early world war 2 japan took over a lot of controlled land. later in world war 2 japan bombed pearl harbor in 1941 and america entered ww2. after a few years america bombed japan but worst by using two atomic bombs, they lost that land and was completely destroyed.

    august is when korea became communist and vietnam became communist in 1975. the U.S. was very worried about communism in east and south asia. so anyway the united states could stop communist the did or at least tried. Domino effect took communism form russia to china to korea to vietnam. But the U.S. wasn't very successful with vietnam becoming communist and north korea became communist.

    when the united state dropped the two atomic bombs on japan as known it completely destroyed the two cities and we had to rebuild and pay (money). this lasted seven years and by the time this was finished it was japan was restored to it's natural beauty. America had redone their economy, government, armed forces, military, and society.

    India got the Europeans out their nation. The British commons passed the Indian independence act to get them out. But it divided it into two countries India and Pakistan. By 1947 both were given independence. (with the help of Gandhi)

    Mao Zedong was a Chinese chairman and wanted communism. also because he already was in the government he just had to get more power. he did that by inspiring his followers and together they rose in the governments power and he took the position as leader of that country. he implanted communism, and to keep his power made and equation only he could solve. (1949 is when he became leader of china).

    the two koreas were once one as one korea in the korean peninsula and had one government and economy. then the northern parts of korea wanted a different government, communism. the southern parts of korea want a democracy then the 38 parallel was created and the two countries were separate.

    The two Korea once were together and the northern parts of Korea wanted communist and the southern parts wanted a democracy. So they split and went in to a war with the north being backed by china, and the soviet union and the south being backed by the u.s. the war ended up in a trues the countries stayed split and got their own governments.

    the two vietnams were once one country also. like the two koreas. the north pasts of vietnam and the south part of vietnam wanted two different type of government. the north wanted communist and the south wanted democracy and they split and went into war.

    the great leap forward was an attempt to up product in Mao's country. he put about 75000 onto one farm. the plan worked at first the went into a plunge as floods and storms killed millions and the plan was an ultimate failure.

    Mao made a plan that only he could solve. he shut down all schools and the young had to get jobs and learn by manual labor. this created a lot of chaos in the society and the economy but it gave him power again.

    Vietnam was split into two north Vietnam and south Vietnam. northern vietnam was backed by the soviet union, and china and southern vietnam was backed by the u.s. this was the fight for the government, and when america backed out north vietnam wiped the south and won the government to turn it communist. The united states were very scared of the spread of communist and went to vietnam to contain it by winning the war but lost and vietnam became communist.

    protester gathered in the square to protest. than police, military, and huge tank approached them. the protesters still protesting they fired and killed about 241 (including soldiers) and about 7000 wounded.
