1934: Mao Zedong heads Long March
Mao Zedong was on the chase away from the Nationalists, led by Jiang Jieshi. On the march, tons of people died. However, Mao used propoganda to make himself look more like a god, as he was shown traveling with the travelers while he probably used some other mean of easy transportation. Along the march, the Communists did not destroy the farms of peasants like the Nationalists would which gained their party much support. -
1939: Germany invades Poland; France and Great Britain declare war on Germany
Germany had already annexed Austria, and went on to taking over many other countries. Germany used their new fighting technique, the Blitzkrieg which included fast troop drops and bombing on them. Later, France was invaded as well. -
Japan attacks Pearl Harbor
FDR was the president during the attack of Pearl Harbor by the Japanese. He stated that it would be "a day that would live in infamy." The Japanese injured thousands, took many lives, and destroyed lots of ships since Yamamoto said that Hawaii was a "dagger pointed at Japan's throat". Yamamoto knew that the US would dominate them later, though. -
Allies use atomic bombs on Hiroshima and Nagasaki
In the same year, the US dropped the atomic bomb, a result of the Trinity and Manhattan Project, on Hiroshima and then Nagasaki. This resulted in instant death for around 70000 and then more deaths came from radiation poisoning. This was a result of Truman's judgement as FDR did not live to see the day of Hitler's death or the end of the war. -
Germany surrenders
Germany surrendered since they were getting closed in on. After the Battle of the Bulge, Germany was completely spent. Hitler spent the last of his time marrying his wife and then killing himself with her. All of Hitler's remaining generals were tried for crimes against humanity and most of them were hanged at the Nuremberg Trial. -
United Nations formed
The UN was formed consisting of mainly China, the US, the Soviet Union, France, and Great Britain. The US and the Soviet Union were deemed as the world powers then. The purpose of the UN was to make sure there wasn't another Hitler and to prevent conflicts somewhat like WW2.
