    Moriah, Abraham Almost Sacrificed Isaac

God put this passage in the Bible because he wants us to learn that we need to trust in God with all our hearts and that God will provide for us. We need to obey him, even if it means sacrificing something we love for that. Also, God wants us to learn that we need to put God first, and we need to choose God over everything else in life. Then, we will be able to reflect God's glory by obeying him.

Canaan, Jacob Typology Hunt Part 1

In the Old Testament, Jacob deceived Isaac into giving Jacob Isaac's blessing. This is from the passage Genesis 27. Although God knew about the times Jacob sinned and disobeyed God, He still helped Jacob later on and forgave him. In the New Testament, Peter denied knowing Jesus three times. Although Jesus knew what Peter had done, He forgave Peter and helped Peter on his journey later on. In both these stories, God knew about how they was trying to deceive others, but still helped them later.

Jerusalem, Jacob Typology Hunt Part 2

In the NT passage Matthew 26, Jesus, beloved son of God, was betrayed by Judas, who was offered 30 pieces of silver. In the OT, Joseph, beloved son of Jacob, was sold to be a slave in Egypt for twenty pieces of silver. These passages connects because Joseph and Jesus were both sold off for a price, Jesus to be killed and Joseph to be a slave. They were also both sons of fathers who loved them a lot.

Joseph was once sold to be a slave (Genesis 37) and put in prison (Gen. 39). However, he kept his faith in God, never doubting him, persevering the whole time. Eventually, God guided him and he became second in command in Egypt and was reunited with his brothers (Gen. 45). This connects to when I was taking my 6th grade piano exam. I failed the first time I took the exam, but I never lost my trust in God, and kept practicing and praying in him. The second time, I passed with a distinction.
  • God's Covenant with Abraham Today

In God's covenant with Abraham, God promised to make Abraham into a great nation and make his name great. We can see this covenant fulfilled through Abraham's name being known around the world today and how Jesus, his descendant, is the savior of many today. Many people are baptized all around the world today because of Jesus. For example, a famous actor was just baptized on March 28, and he was saved through Jesus, a descendant of Abraham's.
